Kiss me quick!
I think there's a $100 difference between the two. If you've got the money go for the new one.

i like that bag
The new iPad for the hd! However having previously owned the iPad 2, the new iPad is noticeably heavier due to a larger battery, takes a bit longer to charge and doesn't
hold a charge as long as the iPad 2. But both are great!

I'm typing this response on my iPad 3. I love the HD screen and improved camera. When I compared the 2 with the 3, there was no question what I wanted. To me, the 3 is worth the extra $100. This is my first iPad and the size/weight doesn't bother me at all. I use it everyday. The charge is great and I've never had a problem with overheating. I highly recommend. My laptop has only been turned on twice since I got my iPad.

Loving my iPad
I currently have the iPad 2. I absolutely love it and have owned it almost a year. It was my first iPad. When the 3rd one came out, I asked my local tech guys (I buy everything from them so they know me very well) if they thought I should upgrade, which I will willing to do. I only use it for web browsing, watching movies and TV shows when I'm travelling, emails ect. They said for me, it wouldn't really be worth upgrading at this time.

I think it depends on what you're going to use it for. I bought the 64GB with WiFi and 3G and it has been worth every cent.

I'm surprised they told you that it wouldn't be worth upgrading --
I had the iPad 2 and upgraded to the new one when it first came out, and I think it was totally worth it. The difference between 3G and 4G LTE was worth it in itself (much faster!), but with the better camera, there was no question about upgrading (plus you can use the new iPad as a Hot Spot!) Although I wasn't too concerned about the Retina Display (had that been the ONLY difference between the two, I never would have upgraded), now that I have it, I absolutely love it

since you said you travel and use it for email and watching videos, I'm very surprised they didn't think the 4G LTE version would be much faster and worth the upgrade
-- that was the main reason I upgraded mine (and since it's a hot spot, I could get rid of the USB modem I was using & paying $40/mo for!)

I personally cannot find any difference using both. But maybe that is because I am not that into the extra functions...

I have the 3 but I've not owned one before so I'm really not sure what the difference is but I do love mine!

Been a few issues with the new one...overheating if heavy graphic / games use. Having said that, on second iPad 2 after first one became possessed (random opening of pages, deleting email etc! Totally freaky). Was broken accelerometer internally so Apple replaced. New iPad 2 fine. Depends if you want to take photos (personally use camera or phone)

I had the same debate and went for the new iPad instead of the 2.

You can feel the weigh and thickness but only if you have both to compare together otherwise, you will not notice it. When I opened mine I thought it was slim and light. Mine does not heat up but I do not play games, only for internet.

Good luck with your choice.

You should make current decisions based on current products Apple has currently announced.

The so-called "iPad mini" has been heavily rumored (with a flurry of stories at least twice a year since the iPad came out).
