How long did it take to get used to texting without buttons? Any tricks for those of you who have longer nails?

I'm getting an iPhone next week and was hoping for some pointers. I've been playing around with my cousin's iPhone and it takes me forever to type. I love the phone but am hoping I don't hate the texting. I currently own a black jack and have used a blackberry for work.

I couldnt, I am nailess( if that is a word) I couldnt type at all with my nails( had acrylics)so i had to get them taken off, now things are ok... Still miss having my nails. Some day I might go back to the treo just so i can have my nails back.

I didn't find it as hard, but I'd use the touchscreen with my treo so I had the practice, even moreso when the keyboard got messed up. In the beginning the spellcheck would pick random funky words and I didn't have the hang of eliminating the suggested word so it was frustrating. Now I've noticedit's memorizing common words so 90 percent of the time I don't have to type the entire word or even correctly since it's corrected. My punctuations better with the iphone than my laptop... lol. It took about 2-3 weeks and now it's a breeze(for a phone). Not only texting, but typing out posts, email etc.

my friends keep sending me pcitures but i cant receive them!

Have them send it to your email!
But you should be able to log into a place, there should be a link where you can view it... but yeah, they can send pictures to your email by replacing your number with the email, on any kind of phone.

I really feel sorry for you if you use this all the time, but you should have researched the iphones features before getting it!

THe iphone does not support picture messaging unfortunetly. So yeah, get them to send to email!

For everyone who wants to send photos as a MMS, it is possible. You don't need an app for it. Just go to your e-mail and send the photo to the phone number of the person you're trying to send a MMS to.

Here's a link to the tutorial. I tried it and it works.

Heh, my mom and both of my brothers got the iPhones now. I don't have one since I already have the iPod Touch.

lol. But it's okay.

And in case anyone is wondering about the apps, my favorites are (bolded ones are pay apps only):

iPhone only:
- Smule Ocarnia. I'm a huge fan of Zelda, so this was a fantastic app. Unfortunately it crashed on my mom's iPhone, so I'm going to have to reupload it.

iPod Touch/iPhone:
- MotionX Dice/Poker (Absolutely amazing games. It's kind of scary how the Dice game can read your mind... almost. And although I'm not a poker player, I admit the dice one is fun. But without poker experience, I always lose against the dealer. ^^; They also have the Poker Quest for those with the iPhone too.)

- Penguin Catapult
- Crash Bandicoot Racing
- Labyrinth
- Jelly Car (I love this game)
- Tap Tap Revenge/Nine Inch Nails (Like Guitar Hero, but with tapping!)
- Enigmo
- Scribble (Like the Paint program on your computer!)

At the moment Im playing Monopoly and Fish Tycoon - both awesome!

There is a new one that is free, it is called Touch Closet. It lets you take photos of everything in your wardrobe, and categorise everything, create outfits, etc. I havent taken pics yet, but it would prob be worth doing.

Got a problem -- my MacBook is saying that it won't sync to my iPhone because it says the "device keeps timing out." Then it says something like the "disk is not available."

Help!

I have acrylics also and the only way I can use my finger is with the edge of my knuckle.
But someone here kindly posted a link to a stylus for iPhone. I am on my iPhone now and can't cut/paste but just google iPhone stylus. I got one for $5 and it works great!
