imo, the smart phone is not ready to compete with the iphone. the storm has a long way to go before it can be a great touch screen phone. perhaps the second generation will be better.

i exchanged it today for the tour. as the guy at verizon said 'the tour is evolutionary not revolutionary like the storm.' he said this b/c i was hesitant getting another first generation phone. i was also told that the storm has a high return rate.
The Storm is really a device that's not for everyone. I cracked my screen and the camera wouldn't work, so I exchanged my first one (bought in December) for a new one today, and the difference even between those two is enormous. The screen press is a bit different and the calls are clearer. They've worked out a ton of the bugs from the initial release, but it's still not a phone that's going to appeal to a wide swath of people, IMO. I'm newly in love with mine, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to others since only some people will like its UI.

In landscape, the letters always felt plenty big to me. They're way too small in portrait, but the phone didn't even have that functionality until recently. I can go basically as fast on my Storm as I ever did previously. It just works for me for some reason, although I know a lot of people have problems typing with it.

Blackberrys trademark is the keyboard and the storm has been a mega flop. If you want touchscreen best to stick to iPhone

The thing I was most surprised about with the next gen. Storm is that apparently the screen isn't going to be pressable anymore. I thought that was funny because I think it's one of the best features.

I really like the Storm keyboard; however, I'm still slower than on a regular QWERTY simply because there aren't any physical buttons to relate to when typing. Also, sometimes the transition from typing to the actual screen is slow, so I have to wait a few seconds for letters to show up.

see that would frustrate me especially if i needed to send something off quickly. well, they do say patience is a virtue.

i loved the idea of the storm and really wanted it to work for me b/c even though i am using a brand new blackberry tour i feel like it's outdated opposed to the looks of the storm. aesthetically speaking of course.

I just got the BB Bold and have never used Blackberry or any other smartphones before so I was wondering if it is normal for the entire phone to heat up when I just have a conversation that lasted no more than 10 mins. It was pretty hot and I never experienced this with any of my other phones (which are just regular Nokia or Motorola phones) After a while, the phone cools down. However, it doesn't heat up when I am using it to browse on the internet, only when I talk on it.

But so far, I am liking the Bold.

^^my old motorola Q use to heat up on me too, but then i exchanged it for another one and it seemed to be somewhat better.

Get a silicone cover for it. You won't feel the heat as much. It's perfectly normal. The blackberry is a handheld computer

Quick Q for STORM owner: what type of money tracking app are you using? As much as I'd hate to admit, BF's income has been reduced due to intern status, so need to watch out every penny I've tried to save up all the receipt and load it on excel, but it's either too late or I'd missed a receipt somewhere.

I have an iPhone now but my mom wants to switch to Verizon soon. I used to have a Blackberry Bold, but when we do switch, I want the 9630 Tour. I had no problems with my bold except it overheating and dying. Everything else was great!

I don't use one, but I love App World because it allows you to leave a review and rate the different apps that are available for free/purchase. So, I always check those before downloading.

Do you really like App World? I LOATHE it. I've downloaded some apps for my iPod Touch from Apple's app store, so maybe I'm spoiled, but I found App World so irritating. I can never find what I'm looking for and most of the apps seem so useless. I can't tell you how many fart-sound apps I had to look through trying to find a Twitter program to use...
