I'm trying to create gift certificates on a MAC, but am totally clueless...I usually use word or publisher on my PC, but it crashed so that's no longer an option...If anyone can help me out that would be great.

What word processors do you have on your Mac? You should be able to use any of them the way you use Word (since it doesn't sound like you need any of Word's advanced capabilities).

What sorts of applications do you usually need? An image-manipulation application?

Who is this for? Is this for a client (and so needs to look really professional?) or is this for a friend (so it has to look nice, but doesn't need to look like it came out of a team of Photoshop artists)?

I have microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, and entourage. I just need something basic, nothing too fancy, it's for my parents business. I usually use the templates on publisher and change pictures and fonts around, but I can't find any templates in word, unless i'm missing something :/

Do a web search on "Microsoft Word templates for gift certificates" and see if you can find something that way. (The first few results that came up for me were from Microsoft's site. There are probably other sites as well.)

If you don't find anything this way, check back.

I found some, but to be quit honest, they were a bit cheesy. lol i'll mostly likely use a holiday one for now, but will need to find a better template. Thanks for your help!

Do you have any sort of photo editor on your Mac, like Photoshop? If not, you can download Gimp for free which does the same sorts of things. It is going to be a bit more intensive than Paint for instance, but will get you a nice looking certificate if you play around with it long enough.

Here's the link for Gimp http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

So what I usually do is find a basic blank gift certificate image in google and then just edit it in your graphics editor. You can use this for a lot of things from gift certificates, achievement certificates, awards, gifts, etc.
