DH and I recently switched from AT&T to Sprint. We needed better service in the hospitals where we work, so we figured that getting better phones (Blackberry Tour) and switching to Sprint would be better. Unfortunately, I still don't get service in the hospital. Most of my coworkers are in the same boat with AT&T. Do you think that I would have this problem with Verizon? We have 30 days to decide if we want to stick with Sprint or not. I really don't want to switch again, though, unless Verizon is really better. Any advice?

Each carrier varies with their specific coverage areas and the placement of their antennae determines good vs. "bad" coverage in a geographic area.
Here's Verizon's coverage map: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/C...atorController. You can enter in the hospital's address to see their coverage. I think it's really difficult to determine if Verizon's coverage will be good in your hospital's location just by asking a geographically dispersed audience (e.g. tPF). For example, in my local area AT&T, Sprint and Verizon are excellent but in my former city 3 hours away, Verizon's coverage was very spotty throughout the city. Good luck! |

sometimes the service isn't really the problem, it's the building you're in.
you should check around with people you work with and see if any of them have verizon. then you won't have to go through the hassel of canceling att just to find out that verizon is the same. |

I have verizon and I dont get service inside the treatment rooms, however some of my patients do. I don't know what carrier they have though.

I think it depends on the building, the phone, the carrier! I have Verizon and my old phones wouldn't get service in the basement of my hospital, but my newer phones did. Your best bet is to ask the people who work in your department, I would think.
