I have the first generation Kindle and I love it. I like the DX but I worry that it's size may be a detriment. One of the benefits of the device is that it is small and portable. I can tuck my Kindle into any handbag and it is convenient in any location; I don't know that I could do that with the larger version.

I'm just thinking about getting a Kindle, so I'm SOO happy that I found this thread!
What accessories are needed with a Kindle? Is it already lit or does a light need to be purchases? I assume a cover is necessary to protect it. Anything else?? |

^^ No, it does not come with a light, but I think you can use a regular book light. The pages look (amazingly) like regular book pages, so there's no glare like there is on computer/phone screens. But that means there is no back light.
I purchased a cover because I carry mine around in my bag with me every day. If you're using it at home you might not need a cover. My cover is much the same as a book cover so that it looks like a leather bound journal. Also, there are some skins to decorate, but I haven't looked into that yet. |

thank you for the information ![]() The leather cover you bought, is that the one from Amazon? They have one that looks like it is pretty nice and would do a good job of protecting. I think I would want a cover because I can see myself putting it in my bag as well, especially since it's so small, you never know when you'll have a chance to read! |

ahertz, I was wondering what case you ended up buying. I have the generic Amazon cover now. I've been curious about that M Edge case because it has the 2 corner elastics that will keep the device from flopping back and forth. The bag snob in me really wants that Cole Haan leather case just because of the leather, though. lol

I have the Medge in the hot pink leather and I love it. My kindle is very secure and I dont worry about drops or scratches. I love the decal girl skins for kindles. This is the one I have on mine. http://www.decalgirl.com/browse.cfm/4,19168.htm |

![]() My DH apparently read a ton of reviews on the covers and decided that this was the best one. I do like it very much...the cover is VERY secure and there's no flopping at all. |

I'm a Kindle 2 owner and I love it - it's an awesome device - I read more than ever with it. Great size and for travel, so easy to take everywhere - Used it in Australia without incident - No more paper books.

ahertz -- Thanks for the Hermes suggestion, just read it! How are you liking your Kindle 2? I still haven't gotten around to getting a cover. Does M Edge make a cover for the DX?

^^ I'm glad the link was helpful! I'm loving my Kindle 2...I've already read all of the Twilight books
to my husbands horror. I just looked on Amazon and it looks like M Edge does make covers for the DX, but they are different than the one I have. Here's a link to all of the DX covers on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=12518223...8332011&page=1 |
