Default Why don't most bags.....

have "feet" on the bottom of the bag? I was using my Legacy shoulder bag today and thinking how I hate to put it down on ANY surface because I worry about messing up the bottom. I wondered why most bags don't have the "feet" on the bottom. It would really protect the bags. Do anyone know why this isn't done more often? Does Coach do this on many of their bags?

Feet are usually reserved for the larger carryall type bags. I think this is because they are meant to be handheld so you wouldn't see the feet as much as if it was on your shoulder

^^^I agree. I think that it might look funny on a shoulder bag although I think that they look fine on satchels.

Yeah I wish they did it on more bags, but I also think it would look funny on a lot of the bags.. the main thing is too that they don't protect the siggy bags with leather or anything, that may ruin the look I guess but it is frustrating for fraying/dirt issues.

The Carly is a shoulder bag, and it kinda has 'feet'. IMO, they should be on all the med and larger sized bag.

Thanks, that makes sense. But I do wish there was a little protection on the bottom of these bags. The bottoms seem so vulnerable. lol! I do have one of the purse hangers for the tables, but I still worry about putting it down anywhere else.

My Francine has feet, but the ergo pleated satchel doesn't which I found a little strange.

IMO, as long as you aren't setting it on anything nasty (the floor, for example) your bags will be FINE.

There's no reason to freak out (I did before, and now i'm wayyy more relaxed). Setting it down on the seat next to you in a restaurant, or a counter at a store won't kill it just as long as there isn't anything gross on there to begin with.

This is the reason that my mom has strayed from Coach. She thinks that for all the money you pay that they should put the feet on the bottom. She actually wanted the Ergo satchel but didn't get it because of the feet issue. Personally, I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, I do think they look ugly when you are carrying your purse and you see the feet. On the other hand, take last night for an example. I was at the hospital and I had to use the bathroom. There was no hook to hang purse or coats AND no seat covers so I had to literally straddle the seat trying not to sit, while holding my Ergo satchel in one hand. Not easy when you are 6 months pregnant:) Actually, not easy anytime! I guess if the satchel had feet, I might have felt a little better sitting on it on the ground, although not much better.

Truthfully, if it's not really structured and the feet too short or small, it doesn't really help 100% anyway (since the bag would still sag and leather/fabric still touch the surface). It also depends on how level the surface you're sitting it on is, no matter whether it has feet or not. I don't have an issue one way or the other, but I definitely don't sit my bags down on questionable surfaces either, so that's probably why I don't care so much. It stays in my lap or gets hung, and I never ever put it in shopping carts either, especially at grocery stores (GROSS!)! Of course who knows where a bag has been that you buy on eBay, or even at dept store and outlets!! I don't even want to think about that!!

My carryall has feet so I put it down anywhere and for the rest, Im just super careful. Someone told me the other day that its bad luck to put ur bag on the ground...anyone else heard this? I try not to do it unless I have too but this was the first time hearing that for me.

I think a great alternative to feet would be a small crossbody strap that hooked on your bag. You could use it for those moments when you need to take kids to the bathroom or anytime you need to be hands free with your bag.
