dragonette, you are very pretty.

What is the average life span of those spiders?

You must have an amazing camera to be able to get so much detail on something so small.

thank you so much, bnjj! my kids should live a coupla years. jumping spiders don't live for very long, unfortunately. only female tarantulas have a substantial lifespan of about 20 years.

this is the first time i've had this species from egg-adult, so i'm observing what the actual lifespan is. i'm planning to do a book on them in the future. i actually changed cameras just to optimise shooting my babies! i had a lumix lx-2 but sold it for my current ricoh gx100 because of the macro prowess of this awesome camera!

oh no!

if it helps, smaller spiders have fangs that are curved inwards, like two C's pointing towards each other, meant for pinching insects. they can't really do much damage to human skin. it wouldn't even occur to them to try biting us, because we don't look anything like insects. landing on our arms is like landing on a tree branch. hehe. but i understand though, arachnophobia is not easy to get over.
