Default How does one deal with being banned???

I'm so broke right now... i'm making house payments by myself right now which is half of my check.. and all i want to do is buy every bag in my wishlist!!! what am i going to do??? my green optic wristlet is ending on eBay tomorrow... the plum patent tote i want is at a GREAT price... and i could go on and on! Its not like TPF makes me want more... because all the stuff i want is older anyways.. i think my problem is ebay and the fact that i like stuff in the mail!!!

How do i cope? any suggestions??

((sorry if this is not so coach related... it kinda is though! Because I'M ADDICTED TO MORE AND MORE COACH!! *twich twitch*))

There is a good thread on the Hermes forum about 'Hermes and satisfaction'...basically....when is one satisfied with what they have, and when do they not need to buy anymore bags, scarves, etc?

For me, I am content with where I am. If I get new stuff, great, but I do not pine away over it all, I just enjoy looking at everyone else's purchases and mentally planning for a time when I can acquire one bag here or there, and what I would enjoy having. but it doesn't define me at all, and I come on tpf for the camaraderie

I was totally going to ask this SAME question today!!!! I REALLY want a Carly and some tattersall accessories and the raspberry lurex wristlet and the love keyfob and omg so many things and I just can't deal but I cannot afford these right now because I spent SOOOOOO much last month! Eek...I'm just trying to remind myself that I have to save because when I am student teaching next year I will not have a job and I will NEED money to live off of just for paying for gas in my car and what not. It is so tough though! I'll be curious to hear other peoples responses!

I don't blame you. I'm having trouble getting a part-time job and I'm stuck with living with my parents. Thankfully my birthday is coming in 2 weeks so I can save up for my next purse. I'm dying to get a job so I can really get the more expensive purses ( I want that Lily so bad!).

I try to force myself from being banned in order to not spend so much on these things, but I've realized that I cannot until I'm completely satisfied. Grr.

I hear ya'. I am a sahm to 3 kids and dh is in the construction industry, commission only and times have really hit hard lately... I was on a roll with Coach for quite a while.. and even though I returned or sold when I found a new one, it still took a toll on my life and finances.. right now buying new ones just is not even an option.. I look at possibly losing my home and other things and the Coach bags aren't so important anymore.. although I do still enjoy looking, and sometimes it is a little tempting but I was so into it that I learned there will always be another tempting thing out there that seems better at the time.. for me it was more the rush of finding the item, getting it, etc.. then onto the next. I stay on tpf because I just love everyone here, and I am past the total addiction part at this point. Good Luck hon!

You can live in your house but not in your you bags no matter how many you have.

Everything in moderation and that is how I am never on a ban. Banning yourself just makes you want it even more.

I completely agree with NekoPurrPurr, a ban never works for me - food or purses. I always want what I can't have MORE. I just have to be on a reasonable schedule.

Maybe something small? A wristlet, or a savings plan for a larger item by putting a bit away each month until you have a set amount that you can spend on anything you want. I like to have choices, but it's usually one or the other. Or one big thing or a couple little items.

I dealed by selling close to everything (minus LV accessories because their value will increase later on) and used trendy 5-10 dollar canvas bags from Marc Jacobs for school, a sleeve for my laptop, and then recently I bought a MJ clutch when it was on sale at bloomies. I just bought a bag with the PCE with store credit. However my addiction of an addiction OF COURSE needs to be fueled so I delved deeper into make up, I am so obsessed, but I don't go crazy, i have a few options from the best for each catagory. And I treat myself to ablusher or something instead of bag after say midterms or somethng. I also am finally building up a shoe collection and when i loose my med weight gain I'll start shopping so basically I'm telling you all this to say you can stagger your needs and buy in proportion to your fiancial situation. sit back and say what do you need the most and get that. look through your collection and maybe make a rule that says you will not buy anymore till you sell some of your stuff and make that your purse fund.

I know how you feel! I'm still searching for a job while living at home rent-free. I don't have an income right now, so I can't be buying anything right now. And tPF sooo doesn't help at all! I just recently got my 2006 gallery tote from my boyfriend as a late V-day present. I love it, but just staring at it is making me want so much more stuff! And I window shop in eBay all the time!

It's really frustrating, but I just have to keep reminding myself that I don't have the money right now. I need to be patient, and when the time is right, I will get everything on my wish list. (Just like how I got my gallery tote! It took 2 years of patience, but I finally got it!) Don't worry sweetie, lots of us are in the same boat at you!

just think - someday you'll have lots of money and you can scower eBay and buy the bags you've been looking at now and in the past - that is what keeps me going. I'm saving for my DF's wedding band, our honeymoon and a house. That's a lot of spending curbed since I got a new bag almost monthly for a while.

It also kinda helps that coach comes out with atleast a few things I fall in love with every season so then I really figure out what I really really want and keep it on a list (with pictures). It's a lot of fun to collect pictures - get the sizes, years, etc when the bag is out. Also makes you realize how crazy your list might be and how you need to shrink it!

Oh, I know how you feel! I also really like getting new stuff in the mail! It definitely takes strength and there are lot of us in your position, so don't feel bad! I am a full-time grad student and have student loans! I just bought a new Coach bag this weekend and even though I was able to use PCE, I felt sooo guilty afterwards thinking about my loan and credit card. I am also putting myself on a ban!

There is a thread in the "money talks" forum I think and there is a support thread for those who are on a ban. Maybe that will help you feel a little better?!

Think of it this way, being on a ban gives you an opportunity to really love the bags you already have!

You need to join this thread ASAP, there is so much help in there and the best part is that you are gonna get all the support you need to go through something like this. Sorry you are stressed out but look at the bright side, you OWN a house, you dont NEED to buy every single item in your wishlist.

Yes I agree, your house is more important. You don't want to be known as a "Bag Lady"....just kidding! Couldn't resist. Seriously I am in the same boat, 4 kids and always something else to pay.

That's a great thread. I may have to read up on all those pages tonight! I am trying to be good and it isn't working at all. I am on a supposed ban from COACH and today I just bought a new $88 straightening iron and some make up. So, do I need to ban Nars, Bobbi Brown, M.A.C and Chanel too??

I really need a reality check and fast!!! My bank account is gonna start yelling at me when I use it. It's really not enough for me to simply replace the cash after I make purchases - I really wanna save a lot more than I am now. Where do we start?

I'm on a self imposed ban - the reason for it is that at this stage in my life I need to be focusing on aggressively saving, minimizing debt, etc., and the current economy has me pretty skittish. I deal with the "itch" by getting out an older bag in my collection and making a big thing out of changing out - free shopping in the closet! Plus, I remind myself that no matter how much I may want a bag, it's not going to change my life, and there will always be another one around the corner. Some days are easier than others, but I find the rotating thing to be most helpful. HTH!
