Default Got my "great deal" tobacco ergo tote...not such a great deal after all!

Well, most of the bag is in "excellent" condition, but the sides have a wrinkly appearance, and the on one side of the bottom of the bag the leather is kind of "puckered" or something. I know I am very picky about my bags, but when I list something on eBay as in excellent condition, it really is, and I would show any "defects" that I think someone should see. I emailed the seller that I was pleased with the fast shipping but dont think this is an "excellent condition" bag and hopefully we can solve it amongst ourselves, either she would accept a return, or offer a partial refund. Its a very pretty bag, and I like the tobacco color even better than my other chocolate ergo tote, which was so dark that it almost looked black in some parts. Oh well, I guess I'll see what they say and go from there. Its hard to see, but here are some shots. What do you guys think - am I being too picky??

I think the bottom of the bag has to do with that particular hide, which the seller has no control over. The side looks like it might of been smooshed.

The one that I purchased from the outlet has similar wrinking on the front, on the side of the pocket. She probably considers it 'excellent' condition because that's how she bought it! I hope you guys can work something out, though. Good luck!

I don't think you are being picky at all. I bought a white ergo tote w/the same puckering on a portion of the bag. Although it was not noticable to anyone when carrying it, it still bugged the H** out of me that it came to me that way when it was not disclosed in the listing.

I love tobacco, its beautiful!

I don't think that you're being picky at all. It's the seller's responsiblity to describe if there are any issues with the bag, especially if they're listing the bag as in "excellent condition". Unfortunately, item descriptions can be often be vague, in which case as a potential buyer, I've often e-mailed the seller asking for add'l photos of the bag and asked rather bluntly, but in a professional and courteous manner, if there are any stains, marks, rips, scratches, indentations, odors, or any other issues with the bag that were not disclosed or mentioned in the auction listing. You'd be surprised at the number of sellers that simply chose to ignore my inquiry; didn't bother to reply back. I take that as a sign that there's either something wrong with the bag that the seller doesn't want to disclose or they know that I'm going to be a pain if the bag is not in "excellent" condition when I receive it. Sadly, after two such incidents, I no longer purchase any designer hand bags through eBay.

Exactly! I'm not saying that she did anything to the bag, but she should have taken photos and mentioned these little defects in the auction. I guess one persons' idea of excellent is not necessarily anothers!!

If it came that way, she may not have considered it a defect but a natural variation in the leather, ect. Especially if she saw more than one bag and they all had it.

the thumbnails look really bad... but when i opened them up they looked slightly better. you're right though, i would have expected these to be disclosed in the auction. however, some people are just not as into purses (for example, my recent SNAD fiasco in the eBay forum) and it just doesn't occur to them that little details (or big details!!!) matter like these.

that said, some of my leather bags develop these wrinkles after they've been used alot (this was before i knew i had to condition them) and the wrinkles would form in areas they naturally sink in during use. does it help if your ergo is full? would the wrinkles smooth out? would apple leather care help?

i hope you get a good discount on it!

That's part of the problem with eBay and part of the chance you take when you buy a bag from there. Like Dragonette said, the seller may have seen nothing wrong with the bag to disclose. Does the seller have a return policy?

Would you have bought the bag at the outlet for the price you got it for if you had seen the problems with the bag?

Sorry you're not loving it.

I'm sorry you don't love your bag! I don't think you are being overly picky at all! If you spend a lot of money on a bag, you should love it! I hope you get it straightened out. Good luck!

Condition it like dragonette said and over stuff it like bag fetish suggested. Maybe the side puckering will straighten up. I know that if a bag of mine has anything wrong with it, it bugs the heck out of me until I have to sell or return. In this case, the leather just might need some tlc. The bottom looks like it is from a wrinkled part of the cow like under his neck. That's not really nothing to worry about. The shmooshed side would bother me though if the bag doesn't stand up straight & perky. I love the tobacco color!

I immediately apple'd and stuffed it, and am waiting to see what happens, and also what the seller says. I dont know if I want to return it, but if I saw these areas up close, I probably wouldnt have bid on it at all, or not paid more than $100 for it. I paid $130 because I had a 10% off eBay coupon.

This bag is in my outlet right now and that is how they come. I understand it bothering you but I'm betting she bought it that way and had no idea it was even going to be a problem.

Aw, I'm sorry about your bag! The color is gorgeous, I agree. As for the "smooshy" sides, I wouldn't be happy with that either (I am a picky buyer though, which is why I've stopped buying bags on the bay).

I hope you can get it resolved! Maybe the overstuffing will help smooth it out a bit?
