Yup! You're all right! I came into this forum preferring LV more than anything, but in that time, I have learned to love alot of brands! lol I wish that when I had chosen a username that I hadn't picked one that was brand specific, because if you check out my bag showcase, you will see that I like EVERYTHING!

I do like alot of LV's designs... my only gripe with them (other than quality issues) is that they only come out with a limited number of new designs for an entire YEAR, with Coach you get new stuff ALL the time! I used to not like that, but now I do!

And I'm not ripping on the Birkin at all, in fact, I would love to have one in Rouge, I'm just standing up for my Coach! :)

LOL thanks louislover! It's cool to know there are boys on the forum too :) Nice to meet you.

p.s. my user name is misleading too... I like haute couture, but really am not familiar with it enough to say that I "luv" it lol

This is so true! From the $1000+ handbags to the $9.99 charm on sale at the outlet, there really is a little something for everyone.

Exactly which IMO makes coach less of a high luxury brand because everyone owns one. Everywhere I go someone has a coach bag and I don't think you can be different if everyone has your bag. Same goes with the LV speedy. Even with it's "higher" prices coach is still going to be seen everywhere and people will continue to buy coach because it is a more affordable brand than LV or Chanel or Hermes.

I see the resemblance but as louislover pointed out it is like trying to associate a hobo with just one brand or a satchel or a totebag... shapes of bags aren't patented (as far as I know!) and many, many, many brands use similar shapes. In fact, Tano made a 'birkin' as well... it was called a crackle birkin!

Can we all be happy again? lol!

Um I guess it is just me but I do not think that Coach looks anything like a birkin.

It looks like their regular Hamptons line.

Just because it is a handled square tote does not make it look anything like a Birkin in my eyes.

Well reading this was intense! I like the bag! I like how Coach puts a softer look to it while Birkin always looks so stiff.

I'm not an expert I just call em like I see em!

I think part of the draw of high luxury brands (Chanel, Hermes, etc) is exclusivity and with exclusivity comes $$$$ prices, but I don't think COACH is going in this direction. The vast majority of their handbags are still under $500, a moderate amount in the $500-$800 range, and an even tinier amount in the $900 ++ range. This is by no means saying that COACH is inexpensive since what is affordable to each person is all relative. I think COACH is successful at what it is intending to do--continue to be known as "affordable luxury" which is probably why you see lots of people carrying COACH. Additionally, I don't use COACH to be different. I just like the brand.

I like this style, although for me it falls in the 'more pretty than practical' heading. Those straps just look like it would be a tough go to get things in and out of the bag easily; the design is very attractive and classy and I do like the grey leather.

I can see how people may compare this bag to the Birkin but many designers take popular bag styles and enhance them to give them a unique twist. This particular style always looks classy and pulled together and several designers do it well.

It probably depends on the leather that you've seen the Birkin done in. There are many types of leather to choose from.

The question is, have you ever seen and held a Birkin or any other Hermes bag? You wouldn't call it stiff after that experience, trust me! Even the alligator is squishy and huggable. Shiny is stiffer than matte, but it won't feel like a brick wall or anything.

----

I agree with what many people have said, but I will absolutely disagree with those that said Coach's quality is unsurpassed. It is surpassed, but that doesn't make it a bad thing in the least.
