I have a Coach beaded tote in khaki signature fabric/gold. 2 of the beads on the bottom of the tote came off, and I was wondering if I would be able to send it in for repair. Would Coach try to fix something like this, or do they only repair major problems? I bought the tote at Macy's about 3 years ago, however, I haven't used it very much and the beads came off about 2 months after I bought it.
If I decide to try to get it repaired, would I be able to take it into my local Coach store since it was purchased at Macy's, or do I have to send it in myself? Also, if they are unable to repair it, do they send my bag back, plus a 40% off letter? |

I think they'll try to repair anything, even if minor. I had some stitching come loose in my new Hailey, just a small bit, and the SA said he thought it could be repaired and he would send it in if I like. He also said if I took it to a certain local cobbler, Coach would reimburse the repair bill up to $40 if I bring the receipt in. He didn't ask for my receipt, but he sold me the bag so he knows I got it there. I thought Coach did repairs for any bag bought through an authorized seller. After 3 years, I'm not sure what they'll do if they can't repair it, maybe some other ladies have more expertise in this area. I'd take it in to your local Coach store and ask.

I used to work in a Macy's. The store has to be authorized by Coach to sell their product, and Coach is very picky, so I believe that they would treat it like it was bought at a Coach store. I also know that one of the selling points for both Coach and Dooney & Bourke at the store I worked at was that they both had warranties and would honor the warranties even if the bag was bought there and not at a boutique or outlet.

The beaded Coach problems were not repaired by Coach as best I remember. The broken/missing beads were a known issue with them.

They may or may not be able to repair it. As toby11 said, they accept items for both minor and major repair though they won't always repair the problem. I once sent a bag in b/c the lining had a hole in it at the seam. They stitched it up and sent it back to me. Other things that should be easily repaired such as sealant issues aren't. It seems to be a luck of the draw. You can send it in and request that they send the bag back if it can't be repaired. Worse case scenario, you could probably take it to a seamstress or something to have the beads reattached (I'm assuming that the beads are attached by something other than glue).

They will repair anything and it does not matter where you purchase it. You do not even need proof of purchase. It cost $20 to send in and it takes up to 8 week for a reply on the repair. It is well worth it.

Coach will repair outlet purchases. They do not repair final sale items.
They do not repair everything. |

I sent in my Bridget clutch for repairs on October 12th because the seams were cracking. I had my original receipt (purchased last November) and they waived the shipping fee (which was closer to $30) because the purchase was within the year. I just got a letter in the mail yesterday for $430.84 which is equivalent to the "current value plus tax" as stated in the letter. The letter says I can spend the credit at a full price or outlet store...or I can look at coach.com and then place a phone order. SUH-WEEEEEET! This was my very first experience with anything going wrong with one of my bags, and they sure made it a very pleasant experience with a nice ending. Thanks, Coach!!!

This is why I buy Coach - I have yet to see another handbag maker stand by their handbags. I dropped off a bag last week at the boutique and expected it to take the normal 6-8 weeks but received a phone call within 3 days letting me know that my bag had been repaired and was on its way (the seams were coming loose). I was told that I had to pay the $20 fee because the bag was more than two years. Which was fine - love my bag!!!
