Hi fellow Coach fans ~ I'm curious if anyone else collects those 2' x 4' Coach mylar posters (from displays at the FP/Outlet/Dept stores)...? I have some that I'd like to hang, but am not sure how to do it. Considered custom framing, but that's pretty expensive (When I heard the price quote, my 1st thought was "I could get a new bag for that amount!" ) So if you have displayed a poster like this, how did you do it? Are there other ideas besides just framing them, that I'm not thinking of? (As much as I like to think I know a bit about decorating a room and/or framing a picture, I know next-to-nothing about really getting creative and unique with it LOL). And, FYI, I'm hoping to not just tack them up on the wall, or do anything that could damage the edges. I've seen so many posts on tPF with great ideas, suggestions, tips - for a variety of topics - a LOT of useful ideas that I hadn't thought of before, so I'm looking forward to any replies on this... TIA!!!

Great idea!

There are places like The Great Frame-Up that provides materials, tools, and advice so that you can frame it yourself at a much-reduced cost. I've done it and it is pretty easy:

Also, you often see old prints and pictures priced cheaply at thrift stores that have well-made and beautiful frames, so you could buy some and salvage the frames and use them for your mylar prints.

Here's another suggestion for your decor. Visit the UCLA digital Bonnie Cashin archive at the link below. Just search for "Coach" to pull up original sketches, ads, articles, brochures, and other documents for the first bags offered by Coach. You may find some that you would like to print out and frame. Be aware that the archive may take several minutes to load, especially on your first visit.

Where do you get the Mylar ones? Do you work there? I assume I need an "in."

Thanks for those links katev!! Great suggestions! I'd never heard of the Cashin digital archive before ~ that's really cool!

Albeli ~ I acquired my posters gradually over the years - mostly by watching ebay for listings to pop up. Personally I had to purchase all of mine, but I've been told by other people that they've gotten them for free by asking the SAs at the store if they could have them when the store was done with them, or because they used to work for Coach and were allowed to keep them...

You can get poster hanger strips that won't damage the posters, can be cut to size and are pretty inexpensive. They are not the most posh framing design but they are simple and fairly unobtrusive, won't distract from the poster itself. Big craft stores and I suppose frame shops might have them, or tell you where to get them. You can also get them in aluminum from a commercial display shop altho those are more expensive.

There are also sticky poster edges (I think 3M makes them) that won't hurt the wall when removed and will just hold the poster flat to the wall.

If you want a decorative edge, once you get the posters mounted to the wall you could actually create a frame effect around it with ribbon, other material, or paper. If it went with your decor, I think I'd create a paper frame effect with either Legacy Stripes or Sig pattern - but that would require some digital imaging/printing skills.

OR - you could use a Coach scarf for a little valance effect, that sounds neat to me!

p.s. Now I want to do this!

I think that framing them is a wonderful idea! I've found some on ebay myself, and I use cheap, poster frames from Christmas tree shop in a complimentary color

Oooh, such great ideas!! I like them all! The idea of doing something with ribbon sounds fun ~ wonder if I could come up with some way to use the extra ribbons I have from gift boxes, or may have to look for similar colors in a wider strip... Thanks for the suggestions so far ~ you guys rock!

You could make a legacy stripe design from ribbon- just find some grosgrain craft ribbon in those colors. Cut the end on the diagonal or with pinking shears and overlap the corners like a weave effect . You could tack or staple to secure, no sewing required.
