Default Why are outlet store Coach swingpacks missing the leather shoulder protector?

I went to an outlet mall a month ago and I noticed that all of the swingpacks are missing those leather shoulder protectors?

Is this a way for Coach to differentiate the difference between retail and outlet bought swingpacks?

I bought my first Black Hampton Signature Swingpack because I liked how it was designed: especially the leather shoulder protector to prevent the bag from digging into the flesh on my shoulder.

I was looking forward to getting a few swingpacks while I was there but I was disappointed that the prices were not marked down by much and that they were missing these leather shoulder protectors.

I was so busy trying to get a few handbags and get out of there that I forgot to ask the SA why they are missing this crucial piece on their swingpacks.

So, I ask: Do any of you know why these swingpacks are missing leather strap protectors?

I'd like to know.

Thanks and I look forward to reading your replies.

Take care,

T-Girl

Were they "made for outlet" swingpacks?

This could be it. I have 2 swingpacks that I got at the outlet--1 that was a "made for outlet" and 1 that was a boutique swingpack. The "made for outlet" doesn't have the shoulder thingy, but the boutique one does.

I just bought a bronze stripe swingpack from the outlet and it has the shoulder thing. Maybe they are made for outlet ones?

Default That's a good question!

That's a good question. ALL of the swingpacks don't have the shoulder thingies. I think they are probably all outlet swingpacks then. That's disappointing. Still, they look exactly like boutique swingpacks and the prices are not that much different from retail price--only 20% off the regular price.

So, I don't think I could get another swingpack--at least not from an outlet store. I like those shoulder thingies. It makes the swingpack complete. Otherwise, I could get any bag of any brand from any store. It doesn't make any difference.
