Default Why do outlets "hide" the good stuff in drawers?

The last few times I've shopped a Coach outlet, I've had a SA start pulling items from a drawer or closet for me to look at. These items were of interest to me because they were unique and not the run of the mill, we've got 5,000 of them items you typically see, and I ended up buying most of them. But...I also would have bought them had they been out on display with the rest of the clearance items.

Another time, I asked for a specific wallet, and the SA opened the drawer below the clearance wallets, and I had to use extreme self control not to dive in, because there was some really nice stuff in there. Why do they hide it? It makes me feel like a second class citizen - someone not worthy of these items. Do they save these for their "special" customers?

I don't know but I always open the drawers to see what's hiding! Haven't been caught or had my hand slapped as of yet. Maybe they don't mind.

I never knew there was stuff in the drawers, then again when I go to the outlet I'm in and out when I do because its so packed.

I opened drawers at a victoria's secret once and the SA was all flustered. Then at another victoria's secret the SA came up to me and said feel free to browse the drawers for different styles, colors etc. I was like

I guess they can only fit so much out on the display, but I just open the drawers anyway. They aren't locked, and I will most likely find something I like that I will purchase and they didn't have to lift a finger.

I agree with you. They can only fit some many on top and the rest just remain in the drawer. Heck half the fun in looking in the drawer. I have never had a SA stop me from looking in there and usually other customers will come and join me. Sometimes will see the SA's try and straighten out the wallets to make the display look neater but within a few minutes its a mess again. My favorite part of the outlet is looking at the wallets.

I'm not sure I have the balls to actually look in the drawers! They always open and shut them so fast, i don't get the feeling they're for browsing. But maybe I should try it.

XD I've been curious about that now, that you guys mentioned it. I wish I had the courage to do the same. I might give it a shot sometime if I ever visit the Outlet. AAAH.

I've been to the outlets A LOT, and I've never seen a customer open the drawer, that's why I feel hesitant to do it.

They just have more stock than they can keep on the floors. I always open the drawers, and actually when I was at a large outlet yesterday, the SA looked with me because I asked her for something specific. Then she told me we would search the cabinets. It was a lot of fun...so many goodies, and some are pretty old so I wonder how long they have been there! I even found the new Legacy crossbody pilot in amethyst in the cabinet!!

I've never known an outlet to mind me searching any drawer. If they keep the stock for themselves, it's usually "hidden" in the back stock room. I also always ask what retail stock they have in the back too, as some of it is not put out right away.

Hehehe, I'm going to try it out then. I'm sooo curious now. Hopefully I can find something nice in there if I don't find anything I like on the Floor. Thanks for making this topic!

I always look in the drawers and I always ask the SA to check the drawers behind the registers for charms that aren't on display.
