I've been to two different Coach Factory outlet stores in the last two weekends. It was a major letdown both times. It's always fun to look, but I just didn't find anything that sped up my heartbeat. Of course, the "good stuff" is going to be gone by the time I get there on Sat. I guess the secret is to take a day off from work and get there when the doors open mid-week? Just wondering what you guys think. Have you had this same experience?

The best time to hit the outlets is when there is a change of seasons, then the boutique stuff is there. Otherwise every other time its just the run of the mill outlet line, unless you find something there that is too cheap to pass up.

My outlet stinks too I hear ya. I hear the other outlets in the surrounding states are pretty good. Whenever I go to my outlet which isn't much they either sold out of what I'm looking for or never had them to begin with. Which is why I choose eBay for items that I'm looking for. Saves me gas and time trying to hunt them down.

What's the difference between an outlet and factory? I thought they were the same. Anyone?

ugh, I feel your pain! I love that other people have good selections in their stores, but the one in Iowa is horrible! We usually get items that other stores got months ago.

When is the best time to go?

The past 6x I've been in my outlet store, I've come out empty handed, which would explain why I haven't bought a bag since September '07. 3 of those 6 times I even was handed an additional 15% off coupon & still couldn't find anything I wanted.

It really depends on the inventory that each outlet receives. I managed to get some really great deals on some accessories at the Coach outlet in Carmel, CA this weekend:

Signature Heritage stripe hat in khaki/green - $49.99 + add'l 20% off
Signature Heritage stripe french wallet in khaki/orange - $89.99 + add'l 20% off
Bleeker Carriage print scarf in pear/green - $19.99 + add'l 20% off
Denim patchwork print scarf in denim color - $19.99 + add'l 20% off
Crystal embossed (princess) crown laynard in silver - $16

I find that the Carmel outlet always has unexpected finds. The french wallet was an exceptional find as my local Coach outlet only had the mini skinnies and large zip around wallet in the geranium color.
