Hey LadyV:
Thank you for your advice about Craiglist. I'm lucky I communicated with a woman who was honest. The wristlets are beautiful and she sold them at cost. I use them from time to time and they smell like Coach leather--I have a sensitive nose.
Since that time, I've noticed that there are many fakes on Craiglist and I considered myself lucky! There was nothing else that came close to the deal I got. I'm glad to say that I've been in this forum long enough to spot a fake a mile away.
I have tried this Leather Lube/Soft Moc Leatherall 365 (new name) for 15 years so I know this stuff pretty well. I have tried it on so many leather items I practically know what it will do before I even apply it on. When I bought this stuff 15 years ago for my Teva sandals, I noticed that when I applied it on the leather, the colour deepened. When I went to Florida and ran through countless salt-stained waves, swam in the ocean (protects my feet from the sharp coral beach), walked several hours on the shore, and returning home and seeing that the shoes were still in great condition, this stuff convinced me that it could handle anything.
I tried this stuff on my more delicate leathers and it never failed. Everything I owned that was leather in the past were all protected and many of those shoes I still wear today and they are in great shape.
So, when I read the thread from BagsAreMyBabies on how her Vintage bag got water spots she couldn't remove, I knew I had to start conditioning ALL my new (and current) Coach bags ASAP! The first one was the vintage bag I got from Yorkdale for $49. I knew that this bag will change colour and I didn't care. I didn't like the bag that much when I bought it but I loved the Tattersall lining. Now after conditioning it, the colour deepened, a nice toasted brown sheen emerged, and the leather became so incredibly soft that now this is my favourite handbag. It's also pretty light handbag because it's fairly small compared to the other ones I have.
I carried it around today and just love clasping it under my left arm. When I accidentally scratched the leather with my fingernails a few times, I would just rub the scratch and the scratches disappeared entirely--much more effectively than when it was unconditioned. I am definitely going to use this bag again tomorrow even though I have been rotating my handbags (and sometimes my wallets/wristlets) on a daily basis.
Also, I got some more of this stuff today at Soft Moc at the Eaton Centre. The lady was nice enough to give me 2 more free sponge applicators because my original Leather Lube sponge applicator disintegrated on me 2 years ago.
For me, "Leather Lube" aka "Soft Moc Leatherall 365" is the best investment I've ever made to protect all my leather stuff. I have yet to try the Apple Care Protectant products. Are you using that stuff?
Take care,
T-Girl
BTW, the Vintage bag was the Whiskey Leather Bleeker/Tattersall Zip Hobo.
