There's no way to tell without seeing the inside and the creed patch. But you need to post at the Authenticate This thread.

If the signature C "placement" is not exactly the same as the pictures of the drilldown or coach website does it mean its fake?

Coach bags are produced in China and Turkey - but are they made anywhere else? I had one that was stamped somewhere else - would this automatically mean that it is fake? Thanks Also, I have an old Coach and there is a creed, but no serial number. I think it is genuine, what do you think? Thanks. PD

In the current bags, a few of the expensive exotic leathers may still be made in Italy. Older bags from about 2001 and before were made in the US, Italy, Hungary, Turkey, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, and a few accessories are made in India. Almost everything made after 2000 was made in China, and ALL the Signature bags are from China except maybe a very few from Turkey. But I've seen fakes with creeds saying they were made in Turkey too.

But if you see any Signature bags saying they were made in the United States, watch out! They're probably fakes. Coach NEVER made bags in Korea and also say they never made them in Thailand, but I've seen Thai bags that look genuine. Every Korean bag is fake though.

If that older bag has pebbled leather and a taupe fabric lining it's probably one of the Sheridans and about half of those didn't have serial numbers, I have no idea why. But they're great bags, very similar to classic Dooney & Bourke All-Weather leather bags, and incredibly durable.

Bag gurus--I have a question about a bag-my friend's neice bought one for her daughter for Xmas--it looks like a soho flap. It's black signature with white stitching. The C's all line up--but I think the bag is a fake. My friend asked me and I looked--the strap is really cheap looking, like the leather on the strap is cheap and kind of wrinkled a bit. There is a creed on the inside--stamped, but the serial number just says No. 10926. There aren't any letters or anything, also the flap is magnetic and it seems cheaply made. She said her niece picked it up in NYC. Just from that info, what do you think? She's here now but I don't want to ask to take pictures of it because she doesn't want her daughter to know...but *I* want to know. lol!

Thanks!
Amy

She probably picked it up on Canal Street in Chinatown.

If there's only a 5-digit number and no prefix on the serial number, it's a fake. Period.

Hello Lovies!

I have a question about a bag I fell in love with, and HAD to buy. It's a sweet blue cloth with leather trim. I found it at an upscale resale shop, and of course, they couldn't legally say it was an authentic Coach. The serial # inside looks authentic, but I'm a novice, so it could be almost anything. Is there a way to put my mind at rest and authenticate this?

Post pictures of the bag, including the creed, in the Authenticate This thread and we can help!

Hi ladies~ I bought a python stripe soft demi from Kaufman's a couple years ago, before they went out of business. I never really suspected it to be fake until I did some random searching through google. I came across an article from 2006, about this same style bag reportedly being found at target and a fake one at that. Evidently, it turned out at the lawsuit was dropped, as the bag turned out to be authentic and purchased from a department store liquidation sale. I would search this further, but with the search function down, that's not possible. Hopefully you can give me some insight into this. The bag is from 2005 I believe, and it was made in turkey. The creed information is: H052-8k23. Overall the stitching is good, but after reading the articles, it made me super paranoid. After further inspecting, the stitching looks a little crooked underneath the leather piping. Oy vey! I feel like I can't even trust department stores anymore.

Are there ANY Coach items where the C's overlap? I've seen several on eBay - the first one I bought had them (which after looking at this thread, for other reasons I think it is a fake - but it only cost me $20, and its cute so I dont care now - wont make that mistake in the future)

ETA: My "fake" DOES have the Ykk on the zipper... the word Coach on the tag does look right... the stitching is straight... BUT the tag does NOT have the metal rivet (I think thats what it is called) where the chain goes through the hole... and the Cs overlap.

^^ Are you talking about the Optic Signature? If so, yes, this is a real line. If you have any doubts about your bag, feel free to post pics and we can help determine if it's real.

I see you said your bag has the YKK zipper. In that case, I'm pretty sure it's real.

so why wouldnt it have the metal piece on the tag? Do some not have it? I will try to get a pic of mine tomorrow!

BTW yes, it is like the optic one. http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-COACH-OPTIC...QQcmdZViewItem This is the type of overlap mine has - by the way, I LOVE this! LOL

ETA: Just looked at that link and actually I think its a fake too if you go by the N and o on the creed. Do the rules apply every time to everything?

Not all real hangtags have grommets (the metal piece). Some may not. Another good source of info is the Coach FAQ sticky in the Coach Reference Library.
