Returning a bag and using credit for PCE---- no receipt.

I want to return a bag ( boutique purchase ) but I cannot find my receipt!!! I was hoping to use the money towards a different bag for PCE... but I was wondering.. will they let me return the bag without a receipt and use the credit with PCE?

I only ask because at one boutique they would not let me use the credit I got from an outlet bag with my PCE and I had a receipt!

I just did this Monday. This is what happened. They said I couldnt use the PCE. So I said "So anyone with a merchandise credit cannot use it with a PCE coupon?" And she said No, that its just when you are returning a bag right then. So I said How about she returns the bag, gives me my merchandise credit card and I come back and use the PCE in 15 minutes? LOL. She said she could do it in 2 separate transactions to get around the issue. If you dont want to ask. I would just return the bag then walk back in a few minutes later and be like "I decided I really want this" and buy what you want using the PCE and your merchandise credit.

that doesn't sound right...i returned an outlet bag (with receipt) and purchased for PCE on the same transaction...no problems at all. the SAs here are great though.

Sounds like someone is 'blowing wind up your skirt'! (I like saying that) Merchandise Credit should be able to be used for anything except purchasing Gift Cards.

And it shouldn't matter that the credit was from a boutique or outlet return.

Some SAs or their store managers 'make up' rules, IMO. I had a store tell me that they could not hold a pair of sale shoes until the next day, and I have had sale shoes held at other locations before.

Today I returned 3 outlet items ($758) with a receipt and purchased my Ergo Satchel, hampton capacity and pleated wristlet, in the same transaction with PCE. Oh and I also forgot to bring my PCE card, so she used the on they keep onhand. Also, this is a newer boutique, not my regular. I will become a regular there though, lol.

Outlet items have to have a receipt because the style numbers/prices aren't in the inventory. Outlet items with a receipt can be exchanged for merhandse or a merchandise credit. A regular price bag with no receipt can be exchanged no problem because the bags never go on sale, therefore the price is known. Hope that helps.
