Sigourney Shoe Boots......Leather color problem?

HI all,

Yesterday I was this () close to buying the Sigourney Shoe Boots in gold metallic I loved them and they were comfortable but before buying I noticed black marks on the ankle sides of the boots and a small one on the foot.

The manageress said it was were they had rubbed in the box, but really she didn't seem to care at all. Is this the colour rubbing off?

I love the boots but don't want to drive myself crazy wanting them if this is a common problem and they'll get wrecked in 2 seconds flat.

Does anyone have any ideas? Are metallic leathers a PITA to own and care for?
