I've got the same, well, I guess problem. My calves are 13 inches around. I'm 5'5", and like to appear taller (of course). I just ordered a pair of black boots from Duo, but, I'm looking for some trendy-looking, tan-bone-fleshtone knee high boots with a nice heel that can be worn with dresses. (I'm finding I'm into the skintoned-neutral look for wear with dresses these days). Help! I've been searching for days and all I can find are western-type boots or the skintight "fetish" type boots. I want something that will look dressy, but not "take over" the look. Duo had nothing and Zappos had nothing. Any help will do.

As for french pronunication, it is "looboot-un" ("first" in french, I'm sure you'll find a place to hear it :))

The discussion is interesting, but yes I agree with what your'e saying in that everyone will sound different anyway and we should just pronounce it as best our accents allow it.

I dont think people expect everyone to say it perfectly.

If anyone is interested in style name pronounciations I can upload some. I am pretty sure of most but I will let you know how I would pronounce it if I am not sure. I am fluent in french so sometimes my best guess is good enough for me!!!!

Sorry about the crackly voice I got bronchitis at the moment. Gosh does anyone know of a better site to upload audio files?

I'm confused..I was at the YSL boutique in San Francisco and one of the SA's and my friend were talking about Monsieur Louboutin and we all thought it was pronounced "Loo-boo-tawn" but the YSL SA corrected us and said it was "Loo-boo-teen"..and he said he had been corrected by Louboutin himself, lol

Look... I figured it out it was frankly hard for some foreigners to got the names right sometimes .. I guess everybody is Ok with " Lady page" but how about "Pigalle" or "Clichy" .. Or "Very Noeud" ? When I heard someone saying " Pig-alley " I screamed.. So I was thinking, what If I make a video, with some pics display that I would comment, with the good spelling ? I mean, I don't own the universal knowledge, but I'm french and I think it could be useful.. Let me know what you think.
love

I have already posted some audio with pronounciation for some styles.

It certainly would be nice to have a more complete archive but I never got around to updating it.

another helpful resource is text to speech software! you just copy-paste or type the words you're trying to pronounce, select the language and wait for the software to read it back to you. i found naturalsoft's program to be the most effective for all the french words i tried

couldn't figure out how to embed it into a post, but i've put it up on luxe junkie to facilitate easy access (the demo is totally buried at the bottom of a page in the Naturalsoft site) - for French i personally find "juliette" to be the clearest & easiest to understand (^(oo)^)
