nieners, i wish i had something meaningful to say about that. have you asked SO about it? i usually take things like that very personally, but i always find out that i was wrong. i'm confident that it had nothing to do with you. i hope you get a answer from your SO that makes you feel better, though.

Neiners it is not stupid for you to have feelings about that. See what SO says, though he may feel very awkward. I'm sure it wasn't his decision. Do you like his parents? (probably not too much right now lol)

I did ask him YaYa, he said he forgot to mention but it doesn't sound like he's being honest with me. Usually his parents make a big deal out of dinner (i.e. he can't go out for dinner with me if they are cooking something special like they do when they have guests and they remind him a lot!).. so I take it very personal! My mother has called from time to time to chat on the phone with his mother and to invite her over but she never came. His father hasn't been to my birthday in 2 years.. not a big deal to me, but when I wasn't able to be there this year because I was away with my family, it was a huge drama and SO ended up being mad at me.

It's not a huuuuuuuuuuuuge deal right now, but I'm sure that when I'm ready for kids, they won't be happy about that. They like to hold him back, I guess

And the sad part is that they weren't always like this.. and I can't think of a thing that I've done that might have changed our relationship.

Sorry for my rant.. I'm just so fed up with it!

ETA: Mal, I did like his parents.. but since they didn't involve me so much in their family plans (not like I should be there all the time but sometimes his brothers GF is (family dinners) and I didn't even know, I just think it's rude in a way... kwim? Like she's part of it and I'm not anymore.

oh no neiners!! i personally would be annoyed.Normally i am expected at all family functions , unless i have like work or smthing along that line then its okay. IMO you cant " forget" smthing like that either.

im hella peeved off atm , woke up with really bad hayfever AND swollen red sore eye, now i cant wear contacts and have to leave for stupid work soon on a sunday UGH

I agree it is rude. All you can do IMO is stay cool about it and don't get mad at SO because his parent are being idiots. He is in a bad position and you just have to wait a bit and see how he deals with it. But it is not about YOU! A nd it is pretty normal for parent to be like this when the kids are "younger".
imma! I hate that when I wake up looking like a monster! And work, yuck. Sorry...

nieners, sounds like his parents are difficult. i feel for you. it also sounds like your SO is pretty supportive of them and what they want. you'll probably just have to get used to it. sorry. it stinks, but i'd guess that it's nothing you can change.

I told him I will just sit and wait and see how it goes. Maybe it gets better, maybe not.. I'll deal with it then, when we're ready to have kids. Not now! Thank you for letting my rant, I feel better now!

ETA: Thanks YaYa, I think you're right.. But I can't blame him, I'd do what my parents told me to in a heartbeat. My mother means a lot to me, so does his to him! And I absolutely respect that.
