Talking Re: Arty's Shoe Repair NY
Just wanted to state that I dropped off 7 pairs of shoes and Arty is awesome! Such a great personality and so does his staff! I am really thrilled and can't wait to see all of my shoe babies!
Thank you to everyone for the info to get me this great guys name!

Hello there...I spoke to Arty about the CL signature...he doesn't cover the CL...He talked me out of it. I saw his work and he does an amazing job...I can't wait to see all of my shoes Thursday...I am keeping my fingers crossed!

What I find interesting is the way different cobblers apply or finish off the soles. Arty looks to have cut the rear edge into the arch so as the leave a flush interface, This obviously means removing some of the original leather at that point. As leather is stronger than rubber, the strength at that point must be slightly weakened, although I'm sure he knows what he is doing.

When I gave my cobbler a pair of my soles to fit to Karen's shoes he did not cut them in flush but tapered the edges of the rubber on all sides. He also left the red edges visible, which my wife prefers. Obviously, he would have painted them if we had requested.

The pics show the different approaches taken.
Hi, I have just purchased a pair of red sole from you. Ermm are you able to recommend a good cobbler in London where I can get my CL heel soled? Thanks!

And yes, I pay for shipping back to me which he checked and will use Fedex as requested...23 USD for fedex ground which takes 2 days...from NYC to DC I guess

I used Fedex 2 day but I have a fedex account or my bf does anyways so the rates are lower i think...

i wont get them back until early february or so since his shipment from europe of the vibram soles hasnt come back yet

Went to Arty's for first time. He is TERRIFIC. He put a new rubber sole on my Prada's and did a fabulous job while I waited. It was $25 and used a color that matched the original bottoms. A pleasure doing business with him. I am going to take all my good shoes and have him do same!
