Oh Lesley... I am SO very sorry, Hon. And yes, you absolutely did the right thing. Our pets give us nothing but peace and love (well, mostly!) and yes'm it is our duty to give back 100% the same. But that does not make it any easier to let them go. Be sure tomorrow to tell him "welcome home"... again.
I seem to recall another dear member losing their beloved kitty, and a very precious friend posting a poem offering words of comfort. SO... now we offer the Rainbow Bridge for you and yours, Lesley.... Rainbow Bridge - When God turns out the lights at night, He looks down to make sure, That we have enough light until morning, But sometimes we need more. So he adds another star or two, From his little store, And when they need replacing, He reaches down for more. The stars are all his animals, He’s taken from below, He doesn’t tell us which are ours, We never ever know. So if you have the chance tonight, No matter where you are, Take a look at the beautiful sky, Its got a brand new star. ![]() ![]()

I've only just seen the update on Louis, Lesley, i'm so sad to hear what's happened. Despite the fact i don't have animals myself i can still empathsise with the loss. I'm never really good with words in these situations but i'm thinking of you and your family and hope you're all o.k. xx

Thanks girls for all your thoughts and wishes - they are much appreciated.
Its been a horrible time - and it truly is a nightmare to see my son so distressed. I've updated my Blog with the details re Louis and a photo of him at his best - having a snooze! Well, it was always hard to catch him at the top of the wall staring at the ceiling and looking as if to say - I'm not really up here Mum - Memories are treasured and will never be forgotten. |

Lesley, may I add my condolences to the list - I'm so sorry to hear this very sad news. We have an elderly statesman feline in our family. He's just as moggy, nowhere near as finely bred as your Louis, but of course a much beloved member of our gang. He had some health problems earlier this year which thankfully weren't serious and he's ok now, but I was heartbroken at the thought that we might lose him.
I have had two other beloved cats pass away during my adulthood, so I have an idea of how you must be feeling but these special pets become a part of us and in my experience anyway, their spirit seems to hang around in a way, so along with the happy memories, they are never truly gone. My thoughts are with you and the rest of the Lescoy family xxxx |

Thanks girls - I appreciate your thoughts.
Strangely I feel calmer today - I brought Louis home yesterday afternoon, and we buried him last evening. He is besiden Viki - who died 2 years ago - and who I speak to each day - so I now have two boys to talk to. Viki has a large owl watching over him - so today I'm going to go and see what I can find which will be suitable for Louis. They are in a great corner of the garden, with a Lilac Tree and some other trees to the other side. They can see the house and we can see them. They will never be lonely. The little grave area for Viki is marked with a marbled flag and so Louis will have the same. I'm planning to put in a couple of small flowering plants and two solar lights - just little ones - to show their are two shining lights there - who although no longer with us - will always shine somewhere. I think to have Louis back at home is right - its where he knew, and where he belongs. |
