^^ I'm not saying he will get to the Final at all - he will have to play really well - given who are still left in the Mens competition. However, he bounced back from a pretty poor display the other night - and it does show character.

He isn't surly - not really - he's just a dour Scot. Both of my sons are pretty much like him in their attitude and demeanour - privately educated and surly - its just a characteristic of the private system. Drives me nuts sometimes - but you get used to it!

^^Haha, i too was privately educated so i can't say much more to that! Whilst i don't particularly like him, he is much improved both in character on and off the court aswell as his game on court so i still think he's got a good chance - i f he can handle it all. It's like i said about the media, they put so much pressure on our sportsmen/women because we're so desperate to win something. But when they fail, instead of encouraging them they rip them apart. Laura Robson is already being attacked after she went out of the girls singles today - she's 15 for gods sake!

I just want some good matches to round off the tournament really - i'd like to see any one of Federer, Hewitt, Roddick, Haas or Murray lift the title - as long as they play well, i don't mind! :-)

^^ Well, he is very reminiscent of my elder son who is 20 and whilst I know a lot of people don't like Andy Murray - I think he has shown real 'grit' in that he has worked so hard to improve his fitness and stamina - and just his general well-being. He isn't the 'full package' and may never truly be - like Federer - who is by any stretch of the imagination an elegant player to watch albeit IMO not exciting.

I think given the players left in the Mens - we have the prospect of some good matches, and it will be interesting to see how it all 'pans' out. I think Wimbledon needs another new Champion - no disrespect to Federer - and so I'm hopeful that someone will be able to 'take' him out. Whether Andy Murray can do that - I'm not sure - given what I've seen so far from him this week - but at least there are a few good players left who can possibly give Federer a jolt.

Failing that - we'll just need to call Maria and ask her to let Rafa go.............

Am sad to see Hewitt out- the little terrier,

but feel v interesting matches still to come. Agree that elegant Federer is not always the most exciting we shall see... and also totally agree that we feel the loss of Rafa!! From a purely sporty perspective of course.

Anyway, my little island is going great guns in the Island Games!!! Just got to knock the Faroes off prime position in the medal table!!! Best competition ever- all small islands- mini European Games, and more bloodthirsty!!!
Stubborn- these small islands.

^^Nope poor Marat went out first round - i'm still crying! Fed vs Haas and Murray vs Roddick, should be two cracking semi-finals - am off work the next two days but i shall no doubt switch off the womens semis tomorrow when the grunting gets too loud - besides it'll no doubt be a Williams final again, yawn.

Yep Lleyton went out, was a great match - i quite like him, he's another terrier but Puka i know what you mean! :-)

You can totally enjoy the tennis without first knowing the rules. The first week of Wimbers is the best- so many players to ogle....
After that- its the one who takes your fancy with their spectacular talent, or the one with the best legs! Sadly Rafa

is still with maria, having withdrawn this year.

You will get a feel for it!

And you will soon be as obsessed as the rest of us.
And bet their gorgeous girlfriends get equally gorgeous bags.
