Default Not a good time to be selling......?

I'm just about to list a pre-loved chocolate quilted bay bought last year. It has been recently sent off to Chloe Paris for a once-over, as some of the stitching had come loose and Sloane Square said they would repair it free of charge. So it's back in pristine condition.

There are not many Quilted Bays on e-bay right now, so I'm not sure what to expect in terms of its value. I definitely need to sell it - I've bought a chocolate messenger-style Bay instead which I find far more practical with young children.

I would be grateful for your advice on a starting price/lowest you would accept. I feel a bit out of touch with it, and I know that the market is perhaps not what it used to be with the credit crunch etc.

Any views?

Selling on e-bay can be somewhat hit or miss. I usually sell the bags I no longer want on e-bay. I research to see what the same or similiar bag is selling for and either list accordingly or hold off if there are many similiar bags for sale (too much competition). Also, take in to consideration the condition of the bag you're listing, if your bag is in pristine condition, then that would add to the value over a used one with wear.
When the summer sales start, many new sale bags are being listed which drives the value of a used bag down a bit.
It's hard to access the value with seeing the bag. If there is a sense of urgency in selling, you might consider the 'buy it now' option with offers.
You're right, the market is not as good as it used to be, mainly because of fakes, bad experiences with sellers/buyers, the world market and the influx of luxury bags, however, there are still buyers and good sellers -- it just takes a bit more patience.

I completely agree and I would wait a while, before listing. the sales have just been on in the us, I don't know about the uk,but people have spent alot on bags in the sales and now have no money to shop eBay (you can get an indication of this by how many TPF members are on a "pures ban" right now. If I were you I would wait a month or so before listing.
I also keep seeing bags being listed at crazy low prices by people who have over spent in the recent sales and want to make money fast, so you don't want to compete with them.
I would search eBay advanced and check the "completed listings" box for what bays have sold for recently, you can check over a couple of weeks and then have a good idea what to price yours at.

Thanks for your sound advice girls - I kinda suspected this, but just didn't want to accept that the Bay could go for peanuts at any time of the year! I'll hang fire for a bit.

I need to sell all my Gucci, I listed with BIN 55% less the retails store, but still can not sold! My bag is 100% new! I just bought last month, I don't want to return because it will hurt my SA so I listed them. Alot of questions, no one buy! Then relist again, and guess what? Evilbay not let me relist because they're set limit for my listing. WTH?! I just only sold 3, I need to sold 3 more and I'm done! On well, I am gonna return to my SA! No more Gucci!

Good luck with your listing. I believe it will go well, there arent many authentic moka quilted bays on evilbay...

This is not directly related to topic, but i was trying to list several items (non-Chloes ) and when i tried to upload the third one i got a message from eBay.es saying i am not allowed to list more than 2 items per month!

I wrote to CS and they replied saying that they wont let me list the rest of my items and that i should contact them after 90 days to see if situation has changed.
FYI: i have 100% feedback (8), so i wonder why they want to put a curb on honest sellers and let scammers get away with dirty transactions...

^^It may be that they are limiting the # of designer bags that a seller can list, or maybe that you have a low # of feedback.....not sure.

Yes, apparently they only allow 2 listings/month until they think you are reliable and then they will increase this limit... but it is very frustrating since the items i am selling are authentic!

I went to list one of my paddies yesterday but forgot to accept paypal, so I went back to edit the listing, and it wouldn't let me (because of the brand name I assume) - it then told me that if I sold the item, paypal would hold the funds for 3 weeks.

I don't think eBay is making things easier for sellers!

Do a search of completed items on eBay and you will probably see some very low prices, or listing ended without bids.

Perhaps you could try consignment?

wow I've never heard this maximum listing thing!
I know recently in france eBay got in trouble in court and had to pay out loads to designers for letting so many fake products be sold on their site, so maybe this had a knock on effect about this fake bag thing on ebay worldwide? I really hope so as I do think that ebay should try to enforce a bit more as some fakes are shocking.

OK...just checked my mailbox, here the letter from CS's EvilBay, I'm so lucky, they lift my limit since I wrote to them from Sunday,
"

^^ eBay's restrictions are crazy...I'm too scared to even consider selling my Chloes on ebay, but I know they're real!

I kinda did drive my selling status into the ground by using the word "style" in a few listings for clothes, apparently that's keyword spamming I'm scared if I list an authentic Chloe and eBay pulls it (like has happened to many ladies here), then my account will be suspended.

It's not worth listing on eBay at the moment I think, most items don't sell.

eBay is crazy at the moment, there are so many good authentic bags for sale on the us site and no one seems to be buying them.

I think selling on eBay is very risky with the idea that someone can leave you positive feedback and then do a chargeback on their credit card up to 3 months later, that scares me alot. Ebay does not do enough to protect honest sellers, it does a lot for buyers, but not all of them are innocent.

I heard about the France thing too, apparently they were successfully sued by the group that owns LV and fined 30 million pounds - quite rightly so I say. I am also increasingly finding the e-bay experience frustrating - for a start it takes them 24 hours at least to list a premium branded item so that it can go through its filter process, but you don't get extra time on the listing because of it. And I have also had perfectly OK listings removed for bizarre reasons. Unfortunately they have the monopoly, and if we don't sell on e-bay, there is no other market. Don't fancy putting my bags in the car boot sale!
