I've been hunting down the small/medium black paraty and need to make sure I got my facts right before I take the plunge... please correct me if I'm wrong:

1. The price for the small/medium is $1910, regardless of the color (unlike my experience with the paddy).

2. Saks has an upcoming F&F event, and last year Chloe was included (does anyone know how much %off?), however Saks ordered only the large paratys. *sigh*

3. Nordstrom, which price matches Saks F&F, has both the small/medium and large, but doesn't carry black. *another sigh*

4. Neiman Marcus has the small/medium black paraty, but does NOT price match Saks F&F. *triple sigh*

5. Ergo, NM is my only department store choice for the bag.

I realize the Chloe boutiques carry the bag I want, but I really prefer getting it from the department stores. Does anyone know if I am wrong or missed something?

You got it all right but you missed that NM is a having a 6 months interest free...

Oh and the discount at Saks is supposedly 20% and might not include all the designers!!! WHY they only ordered the large size is beyond me!! what was the chloe buyer thinking????

Have you checked Bergdorf Goodman...I heard they are having a gift card event this weekend....

Sounds like you've got all your facts straight - it doesn't hurt to ask at NM (preferably ask for Mgmt.) to see if they will price match. My experience has been that they won't, but right now sales are very slow - currently, it is more of a buyer's market. I've noticed some stores really strive to accomodate (i.e. Nordstrom/Saks)

I don't have a NM card I can use so I can't take advantage of the 6 months financing.

But, thank you for reminding me about BG... I completely forgot about it! At least it gives me an alternative to NM!

llson, thanks for confirming! I agree it's worth a try asking NM... what's the worst they can say other than they can't do the price match?

Thanks again ladies! I was really hoping I was wrong about Saks' and Nordies' stock since I prefer to get the bag from these stores. Too bad I was right. No biggie, though, what's important is I get my hands on the bag! LOL

I bought mine at NM, because I had a credit for a MJ bag I returned (had the receipt, but I waited so long to return... couldn't make up my mind!). Anyhow, don't forget Aloha Rag. They have it for around $1750 and you can get an additional 3% off for signing up w/them. Just another idea.

Wow... didn't think of aloharag. Too bad the paraty's already out of stock.

I stopped by NM today to get the paraty and didn't know NM stores still don't accept Visa/MC since I don't normally shop NM (except for online). Will have to come back with $ on Monday. Sheesh.

Thanks llson... I am scrambling to get the funds for Monday without DH knowing. I think this is the hardest I have ever "worked" to get a bag. If it wasn't the black paraty, I would have just given up already.

BTW, I asked NM about price matching Saks. As expected, the answer was NO.

NM has private night the first week in Nov. and they usually do about 30% off. If u live in the states u can donate $60 to Angelitos charity and u get 20% at most SCP stores, Chloe is included. That event is Nov. 5th.

PM me if u want to use my NM SA, he will hold the bag for u til private night or if need more info on the charity event

Thanks so much pikeeygrl! I'll be calling your SA tomorrow.

I did call Chloe at SCP to find out if handbags are included in the charity event (20% off!) and was told that the paraty will likely not be included since it is so popular. Also, their store only has the large one in stock. They are taking names for the waiting list for the python paraty, and the SA offered to look for the small paraty for me, but my DH was coming up the stairs and I had to say a quick goodbye.

Just an update... I ended up getting my black medium paraty from NM at a great deal. I want to thank everyone for posting replies to my questions and also to pikeeygirl for sharing that great information about SCP's and NM's sales. Yay!

nitabonita28... I just lucked out! It was a one-time thing. NM mispriced the paraty and for some reason, maybe the manager got tired of me whining, she agreed to give it to me for the price they tagged it at. And then as luck would have it, NM let me pre-sell the bag for the GC event.

If you get it today, you can get $225 GC from NM (ends today). I hear that NM does not usually match other department store sales, so you'll have to rely on NM's own sales events. I'm not sure when or how NM's next sale is going to be. Oh, and since you live in LA, I was told I got the last one at NM Topanga.

P.S. pikeeygirl mentioned an upcoming private night even at NM for November.

P.P.S. If you're going to rush to NM, the local stores only accept Amex, NM card, and cash/check. I didn't know this and had to come back another time with the $.
