I agree with the whole ethical dilemma about buying from a seller who is known to have sold fakes on occasion: you are either an authentics-only seller, or you deal in fakes, even if they are interspersed with authentic items.

I also agree, CBH, with the idea that we should not buy from a seller who is known to be unreliable, for both our own protection and that of future (often less experienced ) buyers. I just can't believe all this has come out!

I also ALSO (!!) agree with pukasanqo's comments regarding grey areas, gambles and informed decisions. My experience with hgbags was just so positive that I wanted to recommend her to other PFers. Even after I read that thread, I was not convinced the accusations were reliable, as I did not see any strong evidence to substantiate them (by the time I read it, the links to ioffer had disappeared).

This is about as strange as the whole monaco-babe fiasco! Phew!
Cross posting from "Beware the fakes on Ebay":

"If someone has a proven track record of scamming buyers (including bragging about how to do it on ioffer), then you will have to forgive us if we do not trust them in the future.

This particular case in point - the 'stolen pics' auction. I do not know enough about Ebay to say yay or nay. Maybe it is entirely 'as it appears to be', as in her pics were stolen and used, unknowingly, by a scamming Seller. God forbid anyone would try to trick the buyers on Ebay eh?

But here's an analogy to consider: Jack The Ripper is walking along the streets of London, late at night, minding his own business. In his hand is a large knife. The knife is to be used to cut the ropes that bind the hay bales he needs to feed his horse. As Jack turns a corner, he trips over the leg of an outstretched, mutilated woman and falls on top of her - his knife makes contact with the poor woman's ripped torso. As he gathers himself up to a standing position, the police, (or 'Peelers as they were known then), suddenly appear around the same corner and find our Jack standing over a murdered woman, covered in blood. Jack protests his innocence and can't believe his misfortune.

Would you believe his story?"

everyone can make their own mind and it does come down to their own selves to make their choices...
i was also trying to point that even if somebody had a positive experience with a seller that had sold fakes well... that person still remains a seller that sold fakes...
and i can understand why people feel so passionate about this issue, is very dissapointing saving money and buying something that turns up to be a fake.
and fair is fair, some people very carefully build an excellent reputation as buyers or sellers based in honesty and they deserve to be recomended, in the same way people who knowingly cheat on others should be brought to everyone's attention, what we do with this information is our own choice but let's make sure it is an informed one and that's what the PF is all about, to help each other to make informed decisions.
i don't see anything personal in pointing out who mixes fakes with the real thing as it has helped me decide to whom i rather give my money...and it isn't them!!

i just reported that auction chloehandbags but i had also reported the bag as a fake...i find it very slack of ebay to let matters get this far without doing anything!!
luckily it wasn't an honest seller who got it. do you think it'll take long before the kitty and the bag arise from the dead?

I am so glad that you ladies are here doing what you do to help authenticate bags. I love bags, collect them and have been an ebayer for 8 years with over 1000 transactions. 99% are positive, but I still get fooled sometimes. I feel so much better buying on ebay now that I have found all of you, nothing is 100% but if I do my homework, then I understand the risk is minimized and on ebays behalf, I have gotten some wonderful deals. Its just so much easier with makeup or things that you don't have to worry about authenticity. I agree that Roz is one of the best!

^ Actually, you should be careful of make-up, as it can be (and is) faked, too.

Bidding history is classic shill bidding, except that they won the auction - not accomplishing the game plan
