Oh, and also, Robby Ingham at MLC centre is closing down. The whole store is 50-75% off. They have some SEE by Chloe bags going for about $400. And one beige patent chloe tote thats gorgeous going for $880 after 50% off. I'm not sure what the style is but its like a shopper bag.

Here's what the sale wallets look like:

I had such a tough time deciding which colour.. but ended up picking plain old black- so it'll match all my bags :)

Hope someone can help me, I bought a chloe bag from NAP and I paid the duties and taxes on it through checkout. I am returning the bag, will I get the whole amount credited back minus shipping? Or do I lose the taxes/duties as well?
Thanks!

hey Jamie, you'll have to contact customs to claim the duties and taxes back.

I found this on the NAP website - I was thinking about returning a recent purchase so read up on it a bit! Kept it in the end

Receiving a refund

Your refund will either be credited to the original purchaser's credit card or NET-A-PORTER account and will exclude shipping costs (with the exception of faulty items) which we deduct to cover the cost of our collection service.
If your order has been sent to a destination within the EU, all sales taxes will be refunded. Outside the EU, customs duties and sales taxes are non-refundable through NET-A-PORTER. However, you may be able to recover these by contacting your local customs bureau directly.

Try calling customs and see if they have a form online you can fill out to get the taxes/duties back and what you need to do. They've always been helpful and knowledgeable when I called. Hope that helps!

Thanks for that I will give them a call today
With the service NAP provide Im surprised they dont refund this and get it back at their end. I really dont want to end up keeping the item over it though so hopefully its a quick and easy procedure. Ill remember not to buy anything requiring customs fees in the future! I didnt even think about if I was to return it. Its my first (and last) full priced purchase from them I normally wait for the sales!!

Thanks heaps for your help qwerty.

Well for anyone else wanting to know the fees are not refundable. DEFINITELY learnt my lesson and won't risk importing anything over $1000 again. I can't say I'm surprised that the govt keeps the money though. I have not imported anything so expensive before though so I just assumed I would get back the money I paid minus shipping if I didn't keep the item.

Oh wow, really? What a shame! But if you're returning the item you aren't keeping it so why does the government make you still pay taxes on it? You don't have anything to pay taxes on, KWIM?

I feel so sorry for you Hope the customs fees weren't too much but they usually are!

I know we are not meant to discuss buying or selling, but as I don't know what you bought it may be safe to say to you that maybe you should look into re-selling it on ebay/bonanzle to try re-coup more money back? At least that way you might have a chance of making more money back than you would with returning.

It was $200. I considered trying to sell but I'm still going to lose around that in eBay & paypal fees and I'd have to sell for less than I bought it for to start with, I really don't think it would sell!! Looked 100% better in the pic! Oh well big lesson and won't do it again!!! (my cc will be happy!)
I am going to persist with trying to get the fee refunded but don't think I will have much luck. I honestly thought it would be refundable, it only makes sense that it would be if the item was being returned.

Shipping I dont mind, that was only $40 which I was happy to pay if the item didnt work out, but the customs was GBP108 which comes to about $215! That I mind. Anyway I have just had an email back from customs and they sound like theyre going to help me. I am not getting my hopes up but its a start. They have asked for the tracking numbers of the item (coming here and going back) plus invoices etc to show the amount paid. So hopefully they will make an exception this once!
If I get no luck with the customs I might try NAP and see if they will be nice and credit the shipping since I lost so much on taxes.

I have received further info from NAP to help prove what was paid so hopefully I can get something back. The Duties were GBP35 and the GST was GBP73.50. Even if I can just get the GST back it would be good. We pay GST here and if we return something we get the whole amount back so I cant see why I should still pay GST on an item that is returned just like I would be refunded GST along with the item purchase when I return something within Australia. I think I should be able to recoup something just by arguing that point.

Hi Girls!! I was in Melbourne David Jones yesterday and they have an amazing range of new Chloe bags in store!! I fell in love with about 5 of them instantly. Now, just to wait for them to go on sale :P

I saw some nice ones in Sydney DJs on Sat. I agree on waiting though. If they never went on sale I'd have bought one but they have 50% off so often I decided to wait and went and bought a Chanel I've always wanted instead. Chloe can be bought so much cheaper online and on sale that I can't bring myself to pay full price now.
