Mine are quite stiff too, yet smooth. I have to hold the end of the zip to get it to zip up - so i honestly don't think there are any real worries regarding authenticity there.

At least you'll know they'll hold up through time and use as they are so sturdy!

Plus, the paddy is designed so that the zip can be totally undone, and put back together again, so i guess it has to be quite strong.

I believe my Paddy is an authentic, as it came from one of the purse forum's most well-respected dealers, and my zippers are a little tricky, too. I found that if the zippers are open all the way, I have to really carefully slip the one side of a zipper end into the slot on the other side of the zipper end (wish I could describe this better! ) making sure that the two ends are "together" properly. Then it moves just fine. One word of caution, from my seller, "Don't pull it too hard -- you'll rip it right out and then you will really have problems!"

I find that it helps if the lock is "flipped" to the front of the bag when I am zipping up the bag. It is definitely not as smooth as Balenciaga zip

The handles do have some kind of 'stuffing' - they're made of a rolled material, maybe cotton, or something? Then the leather goes on top of that to keep the handles in shape, whilst still remaining flexible.

With regards to authentication - you're not supposed to see this 'stuffing' coming out the end of the handle (underneath the leather) on to the 'tear-drop' shape.

Even then there is a debate on how big or thick the lines should be. 2005 interior lining is thinner than 2006 lining. The thicker lining is partially the reason why 2006 paddingtons are more "erect" or "stiff" than 2005 bags.
The interior lining in my 2005 paddy seems to be canvas. It's got lines running through it but it's definitely not corduroy. Has anyone found this to be true? I got mine from a Chloe boutique so I know it's definitely authentic.

It isn't actually corduroy but a corduroy consistency. The comparison was made because most corduroy items have lines running through them. Hope that helps!

Looking at Net A Porter.com the 06 paddington padlock bottoms have two screws at diagonal from each other. so at opposites ends they are diagonal rather than right across from each other. hope this helps

Just wanted to share a couple of pics i took earlier.

Note, the fake padlock on the left (which, ironically, has the key STUCK in the padlock - quality!)

And of course, the real deal padlock on the right.

The padlocks were both pictured facing the same way up, or down.

Take note of:
The Chloe font
The stitching
The keyhole
The colour of the brass
The padlock hook and it's positioning
The screws and their positioning
The leather strip

Of course, this is just one example.
There are always many, many examples.

IMO, this is a very clever fake, because at 1st glance, you wouldn't necessarily notice any of the above mentioned.

Some fakes make it glaringly obvious (i.e bold print for those with poor eyesight, blinging brassware so you can see the bag in the dark etc etc) but there are also some very clever ones out there!

Hope this helps just a little
