ewwwwww stop it! that plastic one is hurting my eyes lol

you can actually tell the fake before you even enlarge the piccies

Problem is though, is that alot of the fakes are much much better than your fake, they are not as obvious to spot as your one. But great piccies to show the serious differences!

This is great! You should have it merged with the stickied "authentification" thread above so it won't disappear. When you have them next to each other it's easy to spot the fake (the one on the left) but I can totally see how hard it can be for someone if they only had the fake one in their hands! So this thread is AWESOME for that reason!

chloe-babe is right. There are certain "degrees" of fakeness. There are blatant fakes, good fakes and super fakes. It's the super fakes that p!@$* me off the most!

Thanks LG ... I saw your 'authentification' thread and thought that it was excellent in pointing out all the differences. I figured it would be nice to put them side be side so that the differences would be very obvious. I realize that the superfakes have more pebbly leather and the correct contrast edge coloring but for most of the part, the padlocks and the rivets have stayed the same (also I wasn't going to out and buy a superfake ... I'd rather use the money to buy a real bag LOL).

The fake one is real leather and is very smooshy, just not very pebbly.

Ahh the fake is easy to spot here! I agree this should be added to the Paddington Authentification thread!

Sorry, I should have just posted in the 'authentication' thread ... I'll ask the mods if they can just move it to that thread.

Awww, thank you minicoop! I would love to be the forum mod but I don't think our forum gets enough traffic to warrant our own mod. Maybe in a few months time when we have added more to our Chloe cult?

Anyhow, can you believe that back in June (when I joined the PF) I didn't know anything about Chloe? I was such a novice! But then I became obsessed and researched and read as much as I could about Chloe. Right now I have a strong handle on Paddingtons and Ediths...I need to learn more about Silverados, hobos and the other totes. (Heavy sigh) I suppose in order to truly know them inside and out I will have to purchase them so I can "research" them in person. Oh the hard things I have to do for my beloved PF'ers.

Anyhow, I am so happy to have people to share my purse addiction with. At least I know I'm not a crazee running around talking about smooshy leather.

Audrey, I'm PMing you now about the watermarking! Oh, and can you upload your smooshy choco onto the thread? I am at my in-laws and can't save them on her PC.

I have to say that i think all the ladies here have an amazing knowledge of Chloe, in one way or another - and combine us all together and you have one powerful ammunition against fakes!!

I joined in February and knew nothing about these beautiful bags, but i have self-taught over the months, researched, asked, studied pics, even bought a fake paddy (which is now a fabulous comparison tool) and i have learnt so much from many of the other ladies who were here long before me, and the ladies who have joined after - so i'm very thankful to you all!!

As for buying bags in the name of 'research'......hhhhmmmmmmmmmm...would i???

Shall we..?

Most of the fakes don't get the edge paint right.. so right there is your dead giveaway... at least for me.

Thanks for putting all of this information together, it is greatly appreciated! Maybe we could purchase bags for "research" and claim them for educational reasons on our taxes??! That would be great if it was actually possible!!
