lordguinny
Thank you so much for gathering all these info!

Btw, my bag has date stamps 03-05-53 on it and i got it from Aloha Rag.

this is just my guess, ok....please don't laugh at me if i'm wrong...

First pair of digits means seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter
Second pair is the year of manufacturing: 2005
Last pair.....I haven't figer it out yet, could be the 53rd day of the season, 53rd batch, or just a number represent a particular Chloe factory. Anyone care to share their opinion?

Fab idea but HUGE warning bells are ringing for me

We need to get these pictured hologramed / hallmarked NOW, otherwise the fake sellers that plague us all can steal all our piccies of tags and REAL padlocks etc, and add them to their horrid fake auctions.

Can somebody do it for us? I love this idea, its helpful to everybody I just want us to be a few steps ahead of the fakers without giving them any extra ammunition.

I am rubbish at that type of thing, is there any of our fab members than know how to hallmark our piccies .

This is great information. Especially for people who live in an area that do not sell paddy's. They do not have an authentic paddy to compare to.

Notice the different angles on the authentic padlocks.
Fab idea, LG.
I think you compiled together everything that was spread out over several pages - very helpful, thanks

P.S I just wanted to point out that Picture 5^^^ is actually of my Whiskey bag (padlock) and not chloe-babes

I also think the watermarking idea is a must on these pics

This is such a useful thread, great idea!!

I'm adding here few points with pictures of my authentic taupe paddy:

The rings on the zippers are thicker in authentic paddys, and they get a bit narrower on the part that they attach to zip. The rings in fakes are thin all around (without any narrower part) - sorry the pic is a bit blurry but as you you can see there's definitely a narrower part on a thick ring in auth paddy

Also he handle looks different in most fakes I've seen, they have somekind of "leather ball" or something if you look inside the handle - as you can there's nothing inside there in auth bag, there's only a wrinkle!

EDIT / Gosh I just read about hallmarking - chloe-babe is right! I dunno hw to do it

Here's 10 digits serial code in my taupe paddy.... I haven't seen this kind serial code in any other paddy but it's from LVR so it's definitely authentic

It has these blocks in between the numbers, sorry picture is blurry but I hope shows well enough

Here's some pics of a fake bag for comparison (this bag belongs to me, bought long before i knew what to look out for)

Note how the bag seems to stand up by itself - and when it does slouch, the leather looks the same.

Upside down lock on the padlock...!! (Pic 1)

Pics 3, 4 and 5 were taken by the original seller.

Hope they are of some help on what to AVOID.

I posted pics of my Paddington a few weeks ago and the next day they popped up on ebay!!!! I had to edit my post and remove them!
I contacted ebay and the seller too and she took them down. She said she had the same bag, but her camera was broken. I am sure I'm not the only one this has happened to!

I can do watermarking (either all over the page or stamped in a few places) PM me whatever you want marked and what you want it to say.

Thanks so much for putting this thread up, lordguinny! This is a life-saver & puts to rest a lot of the "misinformation" about how to authenticate a Paddy!

Default Paddy: Fake vs Real ... how can you tell?
Hi guys! I know that all the paddy owners will be able to pick out the real one ... but I wanted to show pics to help those planning to buy their first paddy on Ebay and may have never seen a real one IRL. Here's some pics to show what people should be looking for ... hope you guys have fun! Let me know which pics are the fake and which are the authentic one?
