princess0700 - Hi there - no unfortunately Chloe won't authenticate 'in store'.

If you can take some photos - you can post them on the Chloe Authenticate This thread - I'd be happy to take a look at the bag for you. Here's the link to the page -

Authenticate This Chloe

If you can take photos of the 'Chloe' heatstamp inside the bag, the serial/date tag inside the bag, the heatstamp on the padlock, the reverse of the padlock, the underside of the padlock. Also the side buckles showing the 'Chloe' engraving. Any dustbag, tags etc. Post these - and we'll have a look for you - and if we need to see more - we'll tell you exactly what we need!!

Hello everyone,
If you purchased your Chloe from outside the country ie LVR, it is likely that the Outside tag, the round tags that come with your bag will NOT have the description in both English and French, it may only be in FRENCH.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I have been told this by LVR and others.

I have heard that a tell tale sign is whether the heat stamp in the interior of the bag is perfectly centered under the rectangle which is the back of the thing the lock locks to (forgive me, I don't know what it is called). Is that true? Also, when the locks get a lot of wear, is it normal for it to be shiny under the matted brass? I hope this is the right place to post this.
Thanks

If you have a bag you are worried about, it would be best to post it in the Authenticate this Chloe thread Authenticate This Chloe

The shiny locks thing I think happens on some paddies but they changed the mix of hardware some seasons to stop that - not 100% certain.
Also, there is no issue if the heat stamp is lined up under the metal backplate - it's more what the heat stamp looks like than if it's perfectly alined.

Hi there,
Thanks, very helpful. So I posted my Paddy in question in the Authenticate this Chloe thread and it looks like my first one is all good. I am very excited.

Can anyone advise me on screw placement on the bottom of the padlocks? I know what my authentic ones look like but I heard that the screw placements can be in a different configuration and still be real. Does anyone have pictures of these different variations on authentic paddies?

Thanks!

hardcore_harlot - There are different screw placements - I'm not sure if there may be photos in the Reference Library - in the 'All about Paddington' section - but if you want any info - just PM me - I may have some photos somewhere on this PC!

I just sold my pre-owned Chloe Paddington in Taupe on eBay and now the buyer wants to return it because she claims that no one (even the Chloe Boutique in South Coast Plaza) would authenticate it for her. I've never had this problem before because, first of all, I know that what I'm selling is authentic and secondly, the buyers are very knowledgeable with the bags. She also claims that there is a slight color difference on the buckles on the sides and the padlock. She said she has never seen one before. My question is, where else can you have the bag authenticated if the SA's in the Chloe boutique do not even know what's real? I purchased mine from Chloe in New York, by the way.

Email carol@caroldiva.com and see if she can help you.
There is also mypoupette.com, but I am told they are slow.
You might also email customercare@portero.com and see if they can refer you to an auth service.

I am told the Chloe SA's cannot assist because of the liability.

Hi Ellie Mae, I appreciate your help. I will try to contact those that you've suggested. I offered her a return because I was 100% sure that it is authentic. I sent her a copy of the receipt, too, without blocking my details...

You are welcome. And don't forget to invite the buyer to join TPF so that she does not buy any more "fake" bags.
You probably have a case of buyer's remorse and possibly even a scammer on your hands, so if you DO end up taking the bag back (which may be the least headache), make sure it's YOUR bag that you get back. Start with carol, she gets recommended here alot.
And if your receipt had any of your credit card # on it, I'd consider canceling that credit card.

hi there, just purchased a 2005 tan paddy from e-bay, assured it is real, but can you tell if there were paddys sold with shoulder straps? Also mine has a plastic teeth inner zip which i belive is correct for the year. The leather is very very slouchy. the other thing is the rivets are in quite a dark finish old looking. The bag has been very well used. what do you think??? thanks alot everyone!!

Since you're asking about a particular bag, it would be best to post the pictures on the ATC - Authenticate This Chloe

To answer your other question though, some paddies did come with shoulder straps.
