This thread helped me so much when I first started buying Chloe, I thought I could share something I have never seen before. I just bought a 02.06 Jaune Paddington second-hand from a reputable buyer. I have 100% confidence in its authenticity. The serial tag is rectangle and made from Chloe butter-soft leather! I guess they ran out of supplies that day in the factory!

I just want to thank you so much for all of your help - I am currently in a battle with PayPal about my new paddington that is 100% fake, because of the information you provided, then bringing it to Neiman Marcus and speaking with the ladies there. I am able to hopefully present a solid case to get my money back and buy myself a REAL ONE at the REAL COUNTER!!! You have been a life saver!

My 03-07 brun Paddy purchased from the Chloe boutique in CA.

*Hardware has a satin finish (not shiny).
*Serial tag is brown but does not match the brun leather. Looks more like the chocolate color and has a smooth glossy finish with rounded corners. 10 digit serial number separated by rectangular blocks rather than dashes or periods.
*Hangtag in printed only in French on the inside, no English, and only states a serial #(different from the tag inside the bag) that starts with 07A, bag material and lining material. States "Made in Italie" at the bottom. Does not state hardware material. Color is indicated on a sticker placed on the back of the hangtag. The hangtag and the card/envelope that comes in the bag should be printed on textured cardstock that is similar to charcoal paper.
*lining is a brown cotton twill that matches the brun leather.

Default New Paddy markings

I just received my tweed paddy from Aloha Rag, and I know most of you don't love that bag (still, I do!!) but there are some interesting differences in the markings I wanted to tell you about. Maybe this is old news but I have never seen a paddy with these elements:
1. the heatstamp just says "chloe" with no "made in italy" line
2. The serial number is found on a small black tag on the right side of the interior pocket, and the tag says "made in romania" and then has a serial number.

These new markings will make authenticating even more interesting!

I thank you also for the tutorial, although it made me sick to find out that my Paddington is fake!!! I had all the authentic marks until the "little ball" inside the interior handle base. I've been sick about it ever since--wish I'd known about tpf before I bought!!!

But still--thanks so much for sharing your time and knowledge!!

Hi and welcome
The only bag to 'come' with a diamante lock and key was the Vegas paddington (which is a muted gold bag)
It was a limited edition and retailed for around £999.
You can also get the crystal lock separately, but this on it's own is around £150-£200, i think.
If you post pictures on the 'authenticate this' section someone will take a look for you. x
