Default How Scratch-Resistant are the Chloe bags?
I love the Paddy and I am just wondering how are the leather against scratches?
Is there a way to protect the leather and prevent scratch marks?

Question How do you care for your paddington
I recently bought a paddington bag but im tooo scared to take it out anywhere in case it gets scratched or marked. At the moment it is in it's dust bag (pretty much collecting dust) and I have filled it with tissue paper so that it doesn't crease. Does anyone here use a cream protector or a spray to help coat the leather and protect it from dirt scratches etc, and if so which one - is there a specific brand which is better than others? It's my first chloe` so i have become slightly neurotic that my baby will get damaged and I want to ensure it stays in good condition.

I don't do anything to mines. I think you need to use that bag that you spent a lot of money on. It's bound to get nicked eventually, however if you are just careful with it, it should live a good life.

I haven't done anything to the leather of my paddingtons. However, I think I may spray it with a protectant. I live in Florida and during the summer it rains a ton. People spray their regular leather items (jackets, shoes, etc) so I don't understand why people wouldn't also spray their purses!

I don't think there is anything you can do to prevent the chipping on the lock though...

Ahhh, enjoy painting the town red Miss Cherie.
I agree, it would be a crime to not use your gorgeous bag. In my experience, every time I use my bag, it becomes a little bit more worn in, the leather crumples abit more, and it just feel more right, the more it is used.
So you go use it, (alot )

oh, and I have been known to wipe the bottom of my bag with a baby wipe LOL!!

Default How to take care of an EDITH
Is it high maintaince? Does it get a lot of scratches? Mine came in and the back is all wrinkled from being in the box I assume. It kinda pisses me off. What do I do. And how do I maintain the leather and there are a couple of slight scratches, not very noticeable where the color is different, it is hard for me to explain I hope someone with an Edith understands. I love my whiskey edith but I havent taken the tag off because I want it to last not to be wrinkley and nasty.

Default Apple garde on Betty?
I'm such a slop and I don't want to ruin my Betty. I'm on the Balenciaga forum alot and the girls there love to use apple garde.

Would this work on Betty as well? Conditioner and then the spray? I just dont' want the spray to change the leather or anything!
But I am worried about spills, etc.

Does Betty leather scratch easily too? I already found a scratch on my coin purse. :(

I own a tan paddy. I 've never done anything with it. I've got it for almost a year now and use it regularly. It 's still in a perfect condition. My advice is use it anf enjoy.I think Chloe leather is quite durable in its self.

Hi Minnie,

First, congrats on your Edith! It is a beautiful color for a beautiful bag. The beauty of the whiskey is that the leather can vary from smooth and butter to pebbly and smooshy (wrinkley, etc). Depending on your preference, the wrinkly part might be encouraged. However, it sounds like you like yours buttery and smooth?

My Edith was very pebbly and wrinkled and I liked that about the bag. I actually encouraged it and the more I carried it the more soft the leather became (i.e. the more wrinkled). For some other ladies though, they say that their scrumpled actually smoothed out the more they carried it. You can actually "smooth" out the scrumples by keeping it fully stuffed when not using it. Then it won't slump and will maintain an upright position. I actually believe that the Edith has "muscle memory". lol. I noticed that when I stuffed her alot she would maintain that shape. So I stopped stuffing her a lot so she could get used to being scrumply.

Regarding the scratches, I noticed that certain parts of my bag were easily scratched as well. It happened on top near the handles and on the interior leather tabs. I didn't do anything for the scratches because I thought it added character making the bag look more "vintage". I know some PF ladies sprayed their bag with rain repellant so it would not be ruined by the rain. I never sprayed mine but I think I would now if I ever bought another (since I live in Florida).

Btw, I've decided that I'm going to buy a baby MJ stam. I know you were asking on another board which to get...I still say Edith #1...but I need a black bag so I'm getting the little stam...lol. Can you post a photo of your Edith?

The SA at the boutique where I got my Edith showed me two tricks on how to care for the leather: a leather conditioner from Kiwi and another one was actually using moist soft cloth, and lighty dab at the leather.

Have you guys ever been caught in the rain with your paddingtons? If you did what happened to the leather? Thanks!

My baby paddy got completely drenched this week. We went out for a bike ride and I popped it in my basket and we got caught in the most amazing thunder storm. We were completely soaked through and I thought, oh no, my bag is going to be ruined (it really was that wet!). When we got home, the bag had not even soaked through! its only then that you realise how thick the leather is. I left it to dry and it is perfect, not one thing wrong with it, and it had a hell of a shower
