The renapur balsam claims to nourish/feed the leather and protect it from rain. I am just a bit worried of applying the balm (you 'buff' it on to the leather) and it goes horribly wrong or dis-colours the leather.

I would use a spray instead of a balm. There you can't do anything wrong. I sprayed mine once and it's my shitty weather bag. She has seen a lot of snow and rain and still spotless so I wouldn't worry too much.

I use Vectra spray and seems to work pretty well.

I bought it online at the SM website. I do not know if it has made it into the stores. I would check Meijers.

Default my chloe silverado need help
Hello, I'm a newbie. I have a blue and gray silverado. The leather on top was like a medium blue color, it was raining so it got wet and now it looks like it has gotten darker than before. What should I do, should I buy a leather conditioner. Should I use a waterproof spray so that the the water won't stain it or will that make it worse? Will it ever go back to the way it was? Help please.

new doc.jpg
This is a pic, the blue looks a bit darker than in the photo. It used to be this light.

First, how long ago did this happen? I would not recommend treating it with anything. It's so much easier to recommend this because we all seem to have the tendency to try to "help" our bags. The leather can be rather thick, so it may take some time to dry.

If after a week, it's still like that, I would take it to a professional. Do not try to do it yourself. It's amazing how many bags we manage to harm than do good with our good intentions. Also, someone mentioned here that you should "stretch" the leather for the pigment to even out, but I think this was only for a spot. Since it's over your entire bag, I would just wait it out and then go to a pro.

Good luck, sweetie!

Sorry can't help you with the darkening problem, but that color combo is beautiful! I really like that bag!

i have the dark brown Silverado, i was at a wash basin and the water poured out too quickly and a few drops of spray went on my bag causing the same darkening. That was 6 months ago and they are still there, no change. Sorry!

I don't think it looks that bad, of course I understand your upset and wish it was perfect, but maybe hearing that its not that noticeable will console you. I don't recommend that you try to fix this , you will probably really damage it then. Thanks for posting this, its good information related to how and when to use this bag.

python or non? For nonpython, you can use a leather conditioner and waterproofing spray. I use Apple leather products (www.leatherstuff.com and at Burlington Coat Factory). They work really well!
