Arrow All about Vintage Chloe!

Sorry for the enormous delay! Important things were going on in sellerwatch!

Well younguns, my Chloe story begins way back in the halcyon days of S/S 2003, when you could still buy a Chloe bag for under £750.00!

I bought my first Chloe wallet from N-A-P. Apart from a gorgeous Bottega Veneta bag I got given for my birthday by my BF; this was to be my first high end leathergood purchase. This is still my favourite wallet and I use it as a clutch for day.

The tiger bag and the clutch with flowers soon followed, in A/W '03-'04. Although I have used my beloved tiger bag many times, as you can see, I have still not used the flower clutch! The tiger bag is truly stunning and is my favourite bag of all time!!!

A/W '03-'04 was my favourite Chloe year and Pheobe Philo had truly excelled herself. So, of course I had to buy these two beautiful Grecian clutches!

Then, in S/S '04, I bought first the silver and then the old gold (or was it the other way round?!) mesh hobos. As you can see, I've only used the silver one, so far. I then bought the green, black and gold beaded clutch; I thought this might be a mistake, as although I love characterful bags, I wondered whether this one might have a little too much character!

I was wrong!!! This clutch has turned out to be a very useful purchase; it looks amazing with black and is one of my favourite and (believe it, or not) most versatile summer bags!

Once again, if you have any bag pics which you would like to add to this thread, I would love to see them!

These clutches and bracelet bags are absolutely beautiful Thanks so much for posting!

Does anyone remember the collection with allover line-art illustrations? There was a handbag with a swan motif (a bit in the style of Bjork’s vespertine album art) I believe it was from s/s ’02 as I remember coveting the conte de fees Vuitton bags at the time too. Sadly, I passed up both! But I’d love to see a picture again.

Here is my camera bag from a/w '03 & an ad from the same collection:

Here is my Chloe collection, the upper left bag is my 'Annie Small' (?) charm bag (I only had one photo of my Chloe collection, and then a detailed photo), it is gorgeous chocolate brown textured leather with fringe detail, and brass and horn charms that can be removed and worn as a bracelet. It was the first 'luxury' gift from my boyfriend for my birthday, so it's very special to me!

The front middle bag is my black suede limited edition from 2003 (119/199). This bag is gorgeous, it has thick black suede, side pockets, and immaculate Moroccan style golden embroidery - it is so intricate, fabulous, and well detailed. The shape is also very unique, it fits a lot - but it is a compact shape... it is SO lovely in person!

here are mine...i got the black one about two years ago?? (not sure) and the messenger style is the paddington camera bag, just got it a few months ago. i truly love it and feel like it really supplements my 'bag' wardrobe, where the regular paddington style would just get 'lost' if you kwim...i wear it all the time!!!!

(actually, the black one, i haven't worn in about a year...if anyone's interested...)

Great idea to contact Chloe- I hope you’ll hear back from them. I have had no luck searching online either…I’m even wondering if it was perhaps a See by Chloe bag, as I couldn’t find it (nor the printed tops) in the firstview.com runway pics…

Some lovely photos added ~ This thread is a wonderful resource.

This is my bracelet bag from s/s'04 – it also came in black, yellow and green:

Hi bijin, glad you liked looking at the bags!

Chloe has been around since 1952; so there have been a lot of bags produced in that time! However, many of the earlier bags were made from fabrics such as silk-satin; as leathergoods weren't produced, regularly, until 2002.

Here's a potted history of the house:

1921.....Gaby Aghion is born in Alexandria, Egypt, on the 3rd March.
1945.....Gaby moves to Paris.
1952.....Gaby creates Chloe.
1953.....Gaby forms a partnership with Jacques Lenoir.
1956.....Chloe's first fashion parade (at the Cafe de Flore, Boulevard Saint-Germain, Paris).
1957.....Gerard Pipart is hired as a designer.
1964.....Christiane Bailly and Maxime de la Falaise work for Chloe.
1965.....Karl Lagerfeld joins Chloe.
1966.....Designers Tan Guidicelli and Michele Rozier join Chloe.
1971.....The first Chloe boutique opens at 3 Rue Gribeauval, Paris.
1973.....Launching of the Chloe perfume. Second Chloe boutique opens at Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honore, Paris.
1974.....Karl Lagerfeld becomes Chloe's exclusive designer.
1983.....Karl Lagerfeld leaves Chloe. Guy Paulin joins Chloe.
1985.....Dunhill Holdings buy-out Chloe. Designer Philippe Guibourge joins Chloe. Gaby Aghion and Jacques Lenoir leave Chloe.
1987.....Chloe hires Martine Sitbon.
1992.....Karl Lagerfeld returns to Chloe.
1994.....Chloe moves to 54-56, Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honore, Paris.
1997.....Chloe hires Stella McCartney.
1999.....Chloe opens New York boutique on Madison Avenue. Creation of Chloe Lunettes. Chloe boutique opens in Hong Kong.
2000.....See by Chloe is born.
2001.....Phoebe Philo Becomes Artistic Director of Chloe.
2002.....Chloe opens London boutique on Sloane Street. Regular line of small leathergoods, handbags and shoes begins.
2006.....Phoebe Philo leaves Chloe (to spend more time with her baby daughter).

This navy blue chloe was given to me as a gift approx. 10 years ago from someone VERY dear to me. I wore it maybe once or twice. I don't remember it coming with an authenticity card- or maybe it did and I lost it????? We have moved twice since then.

I do not know which store this what bought from, but I know its a reputable store , not a chloe boutique.

Has anyone seen this style before??? The leather is not as nice as the reccent paddys and silverados. I have no way of proving its authentic, but I am going to keep it for sentimental reasons.
There is no serial number inside.

This is my current Chloe collection: I'm still trying to convince myself to get a baby paddington or a small silverado

My all time favourites are the mini saddle bags. I'm still trying to find the black, brown and python to add to my collection. Sorry about the pic with the cats. I originally took those pics for the pets n purses comp, but it had already closed by the time i got my act together

Here's my beaded suede clutch, I dont know anything about it's history as I got it from eBay. The serial code says SC 13-01-05-54 so I guess it is from -01 or -05..?
