Why choose Reissue over Classic? Interlocking CC myth? or just no logo?

Hi, all:

I just browse through all threads, and I find most people talk about getting reissue or ask opinions about colors so much.

I have 2 reissues so far, Dark Silver 227 from 2007 & Metallic Navy Striped 227 for 2008. I don't have any Classic flap yet, that's why I want to get a classic bag with CC interlocking turn lock so bag now instead just plain snap closure on reissue. I don't like any brand with their logo so big, feel like I am advertising them or to show off them as my asset.

For Chanel Classic bag, I really want one with its CC logo there, it makes me feel so Chanel and so pampered!!!!!! I want a Classic jumbo flap~~

But of course, I don't want HUGE CC on my bag!!

I am just wondering what makes you gals love reissue so much and get those rainbow reissues?? Does it just because reissue have so many interesting colors?

The CC logo is pretty understated IMO. If you want a jumbo classic flap, get one!

I like the reissue because:

MM lock is more understated.
I prefer the chain without the leather woven into it.
I like the distressed look of the leather.

i have a jumbo classic flap in vintage, so the CC is bigger than the regular... i love it though! because it's not just a logo, but it functioned as a turnlock...
and i do also have 1 lambskin flap with MM lock, i love it as well because it's more understated. my bf love it more too than my chanel with CC's because he said it's more subtle (he's never into branded stuff)

agreed!! I don't think it's very show-offy...I don't think you have to worry about it :)

CC or no CC is purely personal preference, has nothing to do with showing of or not, don't let this thought bothers you, if you like it, there's nothing wrong with carrying a bag with the CC logo.
In terms of colors, I would think the Classic flaps would have more colors than the reissues, as the reissues were first launched in 2005, and classic flaps have been around since the 90s , or even earlier.

reissues are intersting bags cuz of the colors, they are different and the leather its different, i dont think the cc in the cassic flap its like showing off the brand, it luks cute very cute, it doesnt overwhelmed the bag either.

I'm 100000% a flap girl who loves both classic flaps and reissues, but there's something about the elegant cc clasp on the classic flaps that, to me, edges out the reissue by a tiny bit.

I have and love both reissues and flaps, and while the former is undeniably Chanel, it's definitely more discreet than a flap (which makes no difference to me personally). The classic flap is what drew me to Chanel in the first place, and it's the most aesthetically perfect bag IMO (haha, clearly I'm biased).

I wouldn't worry about the clasp on the flap being showy... it has a purpose after all (it's a clasp!), and beyond that, it's beautiful.

A GST or Medallion might be more "showy," but a classic flap never would. I think you should add a gorgeous medium or Jumbo flap to your fab collection and carry it with pride!

I totally agree with you... carrying a Chanel makes me feel like a million bucks, and what better way to pamper yourself than to carry a flap?

I was in the same boat as you. I don't like big logo. & I had my DS reissue before any classic flap. I originally planned to get a classic CC lock with interwoven chain as my first Chanel. However, I don't want any regular black/beige/white classic flap. I thought (in 2007) the reissues were limited in color & quantity. Plus, I was lucky to get one from the boutique, thus I went ahead to buy the reissue first. Just earlier, I found a naked flap with gold CC lock & interwovn chain - which kind of satisify my want with classic flap. I'm now hoping there's a electric blue classic flap with silver hardware!!!

I like both of them for different reasons. FWIW, the CC lock is the only logo I don't dislike for the most part. I mean, yes, it is a logo but I don't feel that it is a logo that is just there for the sole purpose to advertise. It has a function and it is a classic to me.

I like all of your thoughts about Classic CC lock (bag) vs. Reissue MM lock (bag). Thanks to all of your precious opinions.

My DH doesn't into any brands either....I should say he doesn't into any fashion brand except electronic devices!! ..... True to most of the guys, I think.

Now I am pretty sure that I like Chanel bags not just because it is CHANEL (some kind of privilege & vanity) but more because of its history & style.

I will find myself a nice Classic jumbo flap!! Let's see if I like this GRAY LAMBSKIN JUMBO w/ interlocking CC in Pewter Silver Hardware for pre-fall!!!

I like both, but only have the classic flaps and hybrids (no reissues). I feel the CC closure on the classic flaps is discreet enough for me. But I also like the mademoiselle closure on my hybrids. I don't like a lot of logos all over bags either. One CC is just enough for me.

I do prefer the leather through the chain though.
