I think the black metalic wouldn't have the effect so much, because under the metallic coat is black.
I'll post the pictures of the rub off and fading soon.

The color rubbed off at the corner.

Color cracking on the rim ( I think it's not the rubbed off ,would be the naturally color faded on the area that has been folding all the time).

They look normal for metallic.

Yep, that's the color rubbing and fading off. My SA at Chanel advised me against getting the metallic reissues as they are prone to color rubbing and fading and it's a new leather (the crackled metallic) from Chanel so whether or not the color will last or how long it'll last remains a question mark.

It's the same with Lambskin.

ITA! I think my glazed caviar MC flap has the same problem too after a few months of daily use.
I think we should have expected any purses to have this issue if we use them quite often.

IMO, caviar and patent are the BEST for daily use. Everythng else, save it for special occasion or weekends.

Wanna hear something bad to make the fading seem so minor?

Thanks for the pictures! Now I know what I should be watching out for!

That said, are we not being a little bit too paranoid about the colour fading and the peeling off etc? Surely when you use your bag on a daily/regular basis, some normal wear and tear will take place? Even a caviar and a patent bag will not be able to withstand any such frequent use?

Ok, don't read if it's going to scare you.

Fading is minor compared to my friend's dilemma. Although she babys her bag, this came as a shock to us. Her 227 dark silver reissue, after one use, had a big scrape on the the front after bumping it with a rough stone edge countertop. Leather peeled off about 5 inches from the seam to front, showing the bare black material. It was nasty. See sh*t can happen......the fading is minor. I can deal with fading but not that nasty scrape.

Just trying to make you feel better.

^ Omggg so it's true that the metallic reissues are ironed-on metallics (a technique whereby thin metallic sheens are ironed onto leathers). Freaky and sad that happened to your friend! Did you see it happening?
