Wink The Magical Balance Number - limiting your yearly purchases

In 2007, I bought 2 Chanel bags. In 2008, I will have bought 1 Chanel plus 1 Bottega Veneta.

I've realized that this is a good number for me to purchase every year: 2 designer bags. I don't skimp and save on other things, I can comfortably make a purchase without feeling too guilty, etc. With just two purchases a year, I'm forced to pick bags that I love.

Have you found a good balance for the number of Chanels you purchase?

It varies so much for me. In 2007 I bought only one bag that was $400. This year, I've already bought 2 Chanels and 1 LV, plus 2 other bags that were each under $500. And I'm pretty sure I'm not done yet. LOL.

Since November 2007, bought 9 Chanel bags, and waitlisted for some Fall bags.
It's hard to stop now, don't know why. I haven't used them all yet. But as far as I know, I stopped buying LVs.

That is a good idea, but then again with the Chanel increases nowadays its better to get them as soon as you can.

so hard to limit.....
There are years that there will only be 1 Chanel that i absolutely cannot live without ... and then there are years where there are five or six....Yikes.
While limiting yearly purchases is a very tough call to make, I have gotten wiser with my purchases in looking for bags that are more practical for everyday use. And... I no longer buy any other brand, because i know its just going to sit in my closet and I am not going to wear it.

I have my finances all laid-out as well when it comes to purchasing designer bags (CHANEL bags for this matter). I've made a commitment to myself (& my bank account) that I would only purchase 2, yep, 2 bags per year and so far the result has been great!

I will be doing my first CHANEL purchase for this year ('08) this coming July for my birthday. That is, if I don't get distracted with this d@mn BBag

i limit my bag purchases to 6 a year or 1 per season and it's really hard to stick to the limit especially with the great sales.

I aim at 4 bags a year. I am way over target for this year already so I have to start downsizing pretty soon. 4 a year is realistic for me, enough to curb my endless temptations...

I don't have a limit, but 2 a year sounds good. That will force me to only buy the bags I really love. Besides, I end up buying a lot and I don't wear them. So with just 2 a year, I will end up using the bags.

I'm trying to limit myself to 4 bags per year (for special occasions), although with all the Chanel price increases it's getting pretty ridiculous, and (even as new as I am to Chanel) I'm reconsidering whether or not I should just go to Hermes and just get 1 *very* long-lasting and timeless (not to mention expensive!) bag a year.

Oh, just to add, I'm in love with Chanel because it IS timeless and classic, but when I think I can buy an 'H' for the price of 3 or 4 Chanels (at their prices nowadays), it's seriously tempting to change allegiances, especially since a Birkin has been my HG of all HGs for practically forever.

Two bags a year sounds great, but I usually buy 4 (one per season basically). I find that the more bags I acquire, the more I have to rotate, and the more things get lost in my closet and don't get used... I have to consult my baggie list on my computer!

I just purchased my first Chanel in November. I am still loving on it. I am thinking I am going to be at 1 or 2 a year, I am not a BIG bag person that I have tons and switch off daily. I get a bag and stick with it for a good year or so..So that makes it easy for me to limit myself.
