Default Shall I or Shall I not?

Hmmm...ladies, I have been reading so many threads and posts on the dwindling quality of Chanel.

I am thinking of getting a lambskin jumbo (but have read on the sag of lambskin and even for caviar). I know it is only a bag (so i ought to be cool), why am I thinking so much but it is not a small sum for me and hence I am a little more cautious.

So on one hand, I am toying with the idea of getting a jumbo (also read so many posts on the strap, leather with metal chain, falling apart) and on the other, am thinking of NOT getting another Chanel in a LONG time.

Anyone in a similar situation?

Umm, not really!
My first Chanel was a black lambskin flap and she's *wonderful*!

I've just taken delivery of another lambskin jumbo (Act 2 purple) and the leather is a little softer but still seems absolutely fine and not slouchy at all. Bear in mind though that I haven't even unpacked it properly yet as I've been too busy!

I've had no problems with any of my bags - maybe I've been lucky?

There are lots of "washed" caviar bags around at the moment which have the softness you may like, yet are possibly more durable than lambskin.

Also, the gorgeous distressed calfskin reissues are TDF! And less worrying than lambskin, IMHO. So there's plenty of choice around.

Good luck in finding your special bag

ITA. There are a few of us that have problems but most of us don't and that's why the few occasions that are mentioned seem to stand out compared to the rest of happy customers that have no complaint. There are only a few materials that I would avoid, light colored vinyl/patent. But if you truly love Chanel then I would take the leap. it's a good investment at the current rate. if you can beat the price increase then i would say try to get it within the week.

Always try to get a classic piece first, even if it's not in a classic color .

I am, I am, honey. You know me best. I am just wondering whether or not to get another one esp with reading all these threads on the poor qlty...Also, am I irrational for wanting to spend such high amts on a bag even after reading such threads? My thinking is that these are consumables and will spoil over time anyway (cld be long long period of time like more than 50 years of cos) and even caviar is not indestructible per se (imagine accidentally scratching it with a sharp object). I THINK I will get another C, and yar I think i will just accept tat i am not rational....LOL

Thanks, ladies.

i have a 10 yr old jumbo classic in caviar, it doesn't sag and the leather inside out is still in GREAT condition, and tell u, i don't baby my bag which means i carry lots of things inside, i don't put tissue on the table before i put my bag, i go with public transport etc

i think the more u "worried" about your bag, then even the smallest thing that shouldn't annoy you would be annoying that's IMO

Darling ones, i must put my two cents in...lambskin WILL scratch. alot. If you can associate that with the kind of thing like honeying on LV vachetta, then it probably wouldnt bother you. by the way, also, i dont mean to rain on anyone's parade, but I returned the prefall dark red lambskin jumbo because the color started rubbing off when I rubbed a tissue on it..........to me, this calls for far too much babying.....................

Yar, I know what you mean. I do not baby my bags too, I mean they are just bags which are meant to be used but I wld be annoyed if things like sagging, peeling, etc happens.
