I've probably mentioned this a million times but I'm still can't decide on whether to get a Jumbo or get a Bbag + a lot of other items e.g. clothes, makeup, accessories etc. I find myself going back and forth and it's driving me crazy.

That's funny ... my first designer handbag was LV. I've kept my pochette, but sold my speedy, and other accessories.

I totally regret selling the speedy. I feel like I've "moved up" to Chanel, but I still want to replace the speedy in my permanent collection ...

I'm going to agree with the others.. sell some & keep some. Sell the ones, you've used least & can't see yourself wearing 5 yrs down the line.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before.. but Bloomingdales.. does 15% for opening up there card off your 1st purchase. They sell Chanel at Bloomies at Southcoast Plaza in SoCAL. But, for your 1st purchase, buy from the store.. to get the entire "Chanel experience"

Good luck~!

Here's my two cents. If you like and use your LV's I would not sell any, they're only getting more expensive if you ever want to re-purchase new..... If you haven't touched one or two in more than a year and just plain don't like it (them) then maybe trying to sell is a good idea. I haven't really been purchasing any more LV but I know I love what I have and would probably regret selling any of them as they are all memories and items that I put a lot of thought into before purchasing...... I know I go through phases with things and I may think I'll never use something again and a month later I'm using it and love it.

I agree- if you wear them all, keep them all and just save until you have enough. Nothing will taint your love of your new chanel like regret. Worst case situation, you finally get your Chanel, realize there's nothing else in the world for you, sell your LV's anhd have enough $$ for another Chanel

However, if they are all similar and you only really need one or two, sell the ones you don't need to help fund the Chanel. I definitely wouldn't sell the all unless you know your flap will meet all your needs (mine doesn't).

One more thing this^ reminded me of... I know a lot of us think Chanel is a step up from LV but honestly I do not agree with that. IMHO LV is just as prestige and classic as Chanel but they do offer lines that are more affordable and happen to be what they are most popular for...... Dollar for dollar when you think about it though, in many ways LV can be interpreted as MORE expensive than Chanel, $1,000 for a canvas bag vs. $2,000 for an all leather bag is somewhat justifiable as I think it's safe to assume LV's canvas costs them less to produce than the leather Chanel uses, and even Chanel's material classic flaps are almost entirely leather (usually just the outer layer is material kwim?). And look at the cost of LV leather bags in comparison to Chanel leather bags, they are quite comparable from what I see.

So that said, let me ask you this, are you desiring to remove LV's and replace with Chanel only because you feel like it's a "next step", if so I wouldn't get rid of the LV's. They are still a solid classic and will stand the test of time (style and wear). If you truly LOVE the style and function of Chanel so much more than the LV's you have and you know you won't ever want to use LV again then get rid of them, but I think that's hard to determine for sure in most cases.....

That's really interesting...I'd never thought of that before. I guess in the back of my mind, I do kind of think of Chanel as a step up from LV...but more than that, I think Chanel is more timeless. What's really getting me PO'd is that is seems like LV comes out with a new bag every week (literally), and I'm getting sick of trying to keep up. And the leather of Chanel just seems sooo much nicer and luxurious. LOL, I don't even know what I'm getting at anymore! I do think my LV's are more appropriate for me in some cases, but I just love that Jumbo so much...sorry if this doesn't make sense, I have a cold! lol

Thanks guys for all your replies!

I say keep your LV bags and save up for Chanel. I regret selling my bags on eBay to buy new bags because I miss my old bags sometimes and want to rebuy it. I have LV, Chanel and Hermes in my purse collections but I use LV bags casually everyday. I use chanel bags when I feel like dressing up or feeling down (don't ask me why!) I hardly use my Hermes because I want to keep it looking prestine. Of course my husband thinks I am crazy. I know I am rambling right now but IMO I think you should just save for the chanel bag.

On a side note. I just purchased a chanel jumbo flap bag in caviar w/ gold hardware last year before the price hike. The best investment I ever made I must say. I was torn between the blue and the black but black color won out because black with never go out of style.

I used to LOVE LV until I got my first Chanel bag. Now I don't care about LV anymore so I say sell the ones you think you won't use anymore and save up for a jumbo.

Yeah I hear ya on the styles LV is coming out with, they haven't always been like that and really other designers are starting to do the same thing, it's the world we live in, there has to be a million choices of EVERYTHING.....It wasn't that long ago that LV had a nice, smaller collection and maybe two pieces of each (if that) at your local boutique......that's when I loved LV the most! The fact of the matter is with LV though, they do still have a broad classic range of bags that do not change from season to season, if you own any of those I feel they are good to keep (if you use them). I think Chanel has a more limited line of "classic" bags (not that that's a bad thing). Also their is nothing LV that I think really compares to a Chanel classic flap style wise, I like having that diversity in my collection KWIM. All in all, buy and use what you like, try not to get TOO wrapped up in WHAT it is.

THAT IS SO CRAZY IM GOING THROUGH THIS DILEMMA RIGHT NOW!!

I know how everyone feels!! Before Chanel, I was in love with Louis Vuitton and my addiction caused me to purchase so many pieces!! But now my tastes have changed and I like Chanel more. Im actually currently in the process of trying to sell my LV's on eBay in order to get more money for future Chanel purchases (especially because the 08 bags are to die for... I want to purchase like more than 10 bags!!)! I'm sad to see these LV pieces go but I've never really touched them--they've just stayed in a glass case for me to admire.... so I decided it was best to sell and let someone else enjoy them.

I used to be an LV girl too, but tastes change and evolve. I've sold almost all of my mono pieces and am selling off other purses that I simply don't use. Keep the pieces you absolutely love (for me, it was epi pieces) and sell the rest. The jumbo is a great bag - soo ladylike and elegant. I don't regret selling my bags for one second and I love my jumbo!
