I have been thinking of selling my Boy Chanel and then buy classic m/l instead. Boy Chanel is very nice but I'm thinking of long term use. I know that's popular right now but what will happen for the next few years? Maybe it's a good idea to do so? What do you guys think? What color of m/l I should get? I have now very dark navy (almost black) cavier with SHW in Jumbo size, white GST with GHW, blue m/l in soft cavier and dark grey mini cavier with SHW.

It seems like you have every size except maxi or reissue. Do you just not like it or you are worried it would lose its value for being trendy? I love the boy bags but I can't justify the price on them and they look too delicate and flashy for me. Should you change your mind in the future about it you might regret it. The classics are always around and you do have quite a few already so an impending price increase wouldn't be the case for panic to buy one. I would keep it unless you just flat out don't love it and it bothers you sitting there.

LadyEnoki made a point. Classics is always there like Black, Beige, Burgundy and Dark Green.
I was in Saks Fifth Avenue looking for the medium boy and most stores in NYC sold out the medium or the small.
Re-consider keeping the boy. Is a lovely bag.

If you could get both that would be great, if you can have only one I would choose caviar ml... I wanted a medium boy too someday, but for a 4k small bag I prefer leather lining... But someday if I have too much extra money to spend I wouldn't care...

The classic flap seems so much more versatile than the Boy. You could bring it to a dressy event or wear it with jeans. If you can only have one you'll never regret the CF. maybe do both bags and have the best of both worlds. GL

I´m not too fond of the boy, therefore I´d say sell it and get a CF. My favorite is black Lambskin with GHW. Good luck.

I do not like the boy. I have tried to like because Chanel keeps pushing it and I feel I ought to buy one. I have tried all the darn sizes, but nope... it is not my "look". It is too "boyish" for me hence the name. Chanel always puts it together with frilly clothes if you notice, to help offset the boyish-ness of the bag, but for me, it is not classy enough and I prefer the elegant and classy look (vs. the bohemian and frilly look that Chanel pairs the Boy bag with). For example, with a simple t-shirt and jeans, I think the classic defintely classes up that simple outfit whereas a boy makes it look a bit butch and bohemian. Just me, and it depends on your look.

If you love the bag, then keep it. My personal opinion is that the classic will be a classic forever. If you want to get another bag, I would suggest maybe get a red or orange that are the colors now. It would be a good mix to your collection. Aside from the classic black M/L, the red and orange GST are to die for.

Good luck!

I am with you about the re-sale value. Classics will only go up in price and so will their value. Cannot say the same for seasonal bags - you never know how long they will stick around for :) I say sell the boy and buy the classic!

I recently experimented with other seasonal bags. I thought I just had to have a Celine trapeze. So I went out and got it. Wore it for a month and was so over it. Sold it and got my Chanel red jumbo :) (well, sold 2 of my bags to get the jumbo) :):) my red jumbo is forever !:)

Thank you everyone for your opinion. I decide to sell my Boy Chanel and get black m/l cavier with GHW instead. I have been thinking about pro and con of having this Boy Chanel. My Boy Chanel is patent black. I admitted I bought this model because it is cheaper than other Boy Chanel bags and classic flap. I used it a few times, I found out that the space is quite limited compared to m/l and the leather is so tough to open it! Yesterday I just went to Chanel store. Normally they hardly have stock of classic flap bags. I was walking around and asked a SA to see if they have m/l cavier black in stock. I didn't expect that they have because it's been a few months they don't have and hardly have it but I can try, right? SA told me she would check and she has it! I tried the bag and I found I'm in love with this bag plus other reasons that I can use it for years and I can use for many occasions. Also with the price increase, I don't know if I could afford in the future since Chanel has increased the price so much each year! Since we have the limit in Europe (new rule 1 bag per 2 month. Thanks to the reseller! :( ), I can not buy it right now but 1 September. Luckily my SA is sweet and promises to keep this one for me until 1 September. Ofcourse she has only one in stock. I will do a reveal once I got it. Thanks again for all of your opinions. That really helps me a lot! I really appreciate that :)

Though the boy is very cute, I think it's a bit too chic and delicate in the long run, whereas the classic can always be used! With that being said, I think you should sell the boy and get a classic flap instead - you will probably get more use out of the classic flap in the long run because of its durability in caviar as well as its versatility.

Oh gosh this is exactly what I've been thinking...
I bought a large boy 2months ago and the chain and its square edge kind of bothered me lately lol
I have a black m/l in lambskin
Currently in this dilemma...
How well do you think boys value retain? Do you think we can sell it original price or lower? And how much lower?

I don't think there are many Chanel bags that you can sell at the original price during the same few months that you bought it during time frame, unless it's a really hot commodity that was in short supply. Even a new flap bag is going to have some depreciation (unless it's in that category I described) as why would someone buy second hand when they could buy new for the same price? Therefore, if you sell, it will be for a lower amount. I have no idea how well boy bags hold their value as I've not "yet" bought one (but been eyeing a few), but I would suspect it depends on the bag, the rarity, the condition, and the market demand for that style. If it's a current style readily available, then you will take a hit, same as if you sold a "new" car that you had owned only two months. Depreciation happens. :(
