^ Bump, I want to know too. I have always wanted to own a classic caviar but the price increases have been crazy. Looks like I can only afford an east west flap at this time and even that it looks like the price has gone up substantially since 2006?

Hi Chanel lovers :) is it true that the caviar jumbo classic flap only comes with silver hardware? I always thought it came with gold hardware as well, but a SA at the Sydney boutique (where I will be visiting soon) told me it only comes with silver. Is that true? Also, this bag only comes in small, medium and jumbo right? She mentioned a large size as well, not sure if she was referring to the reissue? I'm confused!

i believe jumbo flaps also come in both silver and gold hardwares? classic flaps only comes in 3 sizes. the medium and large should be the same size as different people call the sizes differently.

Hi im terribly confused, pardon mi cuz im just starting to learn more abt Chanel's bags.
I called a SA in Paris to order...n i said I want a 2.55 black caviar medium with gold hw..but she goes like...2.55 has no caviar leather?
im sooo terribly confused..she goes on to say that is called classic flap, but not 2.55.
2.55 is another type rite? without the CC logo..cuz apparently she must have thought i know nuts n she just asked wehther i want it with or without the logo (2.55 or classic?).

Pls enlighten!

^ 2.55 is the reissue with the mademoiselle closure, classic flaps have the CC twistlock closure.

Please take your time to read this thread, it's all about the differences between the classic flaps and reissues LOL.

Hi All,

My 94 year old aunt just gifted me with what she says is a Chanel bag. She says it was purchased at Chanel in New York sometime between 1955 and 1965.

There is no Chanel logo on opening clasp or label inside BUT....I'm wondering what the earliest versions of the 2.55 bag looked like. It says "made of Kidskin" inside and there is a deer symbol. The bag also has a little purse attached by a tiny gold chain. It is quilted and definitely looks like a very early 2.55.

I have pics but cant seem to load them on this forum. I'll be happy to e-mail them to anyone interested.
