I had a question about the vintage jumbo classic flap... and I hope this is the right place to ask.

I've been seeing a lot of these vintage flaps popping up and I always thought that the stamp on the front CCs is supposed to be on the top left hand side, but half of them seem to have them on the top right side. What's going on?

Hi, please post this question to the "authenticate this Chanel" thread and you'll definitely get an answer.

The 2008 size 228 (A37591 I think) retails in the US for around $3,450 and is the same as the old 228 (only a little bit wider).
Your probably right as this is the only possible thing that would make any sense to this mad confusion.

I will try to check with another source and see what they say.

Thanks for your patience and your info that you have posted regarding

the difference in size/measurements.

It is really confusing. As far as I can tell, the sizes are medium, large and jumbo. That's what the SAs at my Saks and Chanel boutique call them. But some refer to them as small, medium/large and jumbo. I think they are 9", 10" and 12".

There was only one official classic jumbo back in the 1990's and it must have been close to 17" retailing at about GBP4000 approx. I still have the magazine clippings cause I couldn't afford it at the time. I don't know if that size still exists but all others in the classic are referred to in the shops as large, medium, and small... of course there are nuances within these categories.

Can someone please tell me the prices and sizes of the regular classic flaps and not the reissues? Thanks.

The reference library has current prices in the "Classic flaps/reissues" section.

Ditto...however it is rather nice to have both!

I agree. I don't know which Canadian SA was consulted. But from my experience, some of them usually don't know what they're talking about. I had one SA INSIST that the texture of washed caviar was just how "ALL new caviar leather would be".

2.55 is just the name of the collection - nothing else. It refers to the original bag launched by Mademoiselle Chanel in February 1955. Chanel reissued the design featuring the rectangular "mademoiselle" lock and "bijoux" chain a few years ago and each season since they have modified the bag a bit and added to the "2.55 Collection". This season the bag bases are larger and there are new colors. The classic flap bags with the CC closure are not considered 2.55 bags by Chanel. These classic flapbags are part of either the collection called Timeless Classic (lambskin leather) ot Timeless CC (caviar leather)The 2.55 collection which is just the "name" of the group also includes new styles that were shown on the Spring/Summer 2008 runway including the ankle bag. Hope this helps to clarify the mass confusion surrounding the 2.55 bags.
