Reference: Difference between the 2.55 & the Classic Flaps & other essential info

hi

new to all this...first time buyer of chanel and i would love to know what this reissue bag is.

could you all tell me where the name "reissue" came from.
as i know the 2.55 was designed by coco herself, in feb 1955. which is the one with the rectangular clasp called the mademoiselle.
then the one with the two cc lock clasp was the reissue of the 2.55 designed by karl lagerfeld, called the 255.
so when you ask for the reissue bag you mean the 255?

I've never heard this before. The flap that Karl designed with the interlocking CC is referred to as the "timeless classic flap".

2.55 or 255 refers to the original that Coco introduced in February 1955.

In 2005 in commemoration for the 50th anniversary of the 2.55 Karl Lagerfeld released flap bags that were made in the exact same design as the original 2.55 and the popular name became the "reissue" - meaning the original was reissued.

When people refer to "reissue" now they are talking about any bags that are made in the same design as the original 2.55 whose release date was 2005 forward.

Well Coco's original was the 2.55 not the "classic flap" (just to keep things straight).

The original 2.55's were distressed calfskin.

First the above prices are Canadian
Second I believe the prices above these are American (the first ones posted)
Third I was confused too that is why I was posting the info I received.
Fourth I think the sizes and prices are off by one for example
size 225 - 11"w x 6 3/4"h x 3 3/8"d - $2625 (looks like measurements for old 226)
now look at the first set of measurments posted (the American ones) see that's why I put in brackets(looks like measurments for old 226)
and the same for the 226, 227 ect...

yes and ect with the 226 and 227 according to the info I received on the sizes, this is sure what it looks like to me at least.

No, I don't think that's true. I think that the 2008 2.55's are wider for sure, but not much longer than previous years. So the 225 would NOT be the new 226.

All I know is what was told to me here in Canada and it looks like, if we use the measurments for the size 225 for an example, it has the same measurments of the A37587 - for $2695.
So I guess my question would be, is the A37587 for $2695 US a size 226?
If so then this same size (measurments) in Canada was quoted to me as being size 225 and then therefore would be correct.

Look at the prices in the info below that were quoted to me in Canadian prices and this alone would tell us that something with the measurments versus price were different
size 225 is $2625
size 226 is $2800
size 227 is $3400 .

I can post pictures of my 2005 & 2006 226's next to my 2008 226 for size comparison.

Black 2005 Commemorative 2.55 (size 226, style# A30226)
Dark Gold 2006 2.55 (size 226, style# A30226)
Dark Red Metallic 2008 2.55 (size 226, style# A37587)

You will note that the 2008 226 is the same height & length, but wider than the 2005 and 2006 226s.

I think you were given wrong information.

The 2008 A37587 retails in the US for $2,695 and is the same as the old 226 (only a little bit wider. See my pictures above for reference.)

The 2008 A37590 retails in the US for $2,850 and is the same as the old 227 (only a little bit wider).

The 2008 size 228 (A37591 I think) retails in the US for around $3,450 and is the same as the old 228 (only a little bit wider).
