Recommend a first Chanel for me?

Hi! I'm pretty new to tPF, i'm a 19 year old senior at a University and i'm looking to purchase my first Chanel bag.
I have a pretty decent purse collection for someone young, a couple of MbMJ bags, a bunch of Longchamp bags, and Coach i've outgrown, and other random "lower-end" designers.
I plan on working this summer to simply earn money for my bag (my father could afford it easily, but I want to do this for me), and I want to know which ones would be good.
I'm a fan of the classic lambskin flaps, and I don't know if those would be recommendable?
And I really want one good, classic bag as a present for myself, since i'll be starting law school in a year and i've done pretty well academically for myself (full ride to where I am now, 2 years ahead, etc.) and think I deserve it :)

The black Chanel bucket bag with CC logo on it is a good first buy:)

Hmm....it depends on what you want out of your bag.
I'd def. get black since it goes with tons of outfits. Gold or silver hardware is up to you. GO with whatever suits your skintone, clothes, and jewelry more. If you wear gold jewelry most of the time, go with gold hardware...

If you want an evening bag or special occasion bag, I'd get a black lambskin medium flap. If you want a bag you can use more often and mainly for daytime...go with a black caviar jumbo flap. If you don't carry a lot, you may be able to get by with a medium caviar flap.

I would def. get a flap as they are sooo iconic and classic and you won't regret it.
There are also some totes that are practical and classy as well like the PST or GST..

The hardware thing is going to be hard, haha. I wear both equally...

I would say a jumbo flap or a tote of some kind, in black. Leather choice and hardware depends on your preference.

you can definitely get the flap, it is a chanel classic bag. Get it in a medium or large. I think jumbo might be a little too "bold" for being a lawyer. BUT on the other hand, it can hold more things for you.

I would say either a med/large or a jumbo black flap in caviar. I would try them on and see which suits you better and what would be best to carry the most.

The m/l is better for day into night, but it does not hold that much due to the double flap. If you are one of those ladies who carries a phone, a small wallet and a lipgloss it would be fine.

If you are like me and carry enought stuff to last you a week in the woods plus misc papers

, then you will want to seriously look at a jumbo. The jumbo can work for casual nights out also.

Good luck on saving up and deciding what you will purchase.

lambskin its more delicate and we all know that but it dpends how much do you like the leather type, get a black bag, and i gave you the options above, you can call chanel for prices since this bags are available now, or maybe some input have the info. good luck! and hope you get what you love.

Not too long ago, my 1st Chanel was the black lambskin classic flap with gold hardware in med/large. I too was debating on which to purchase. But I decided to go with this because I've always loved the CC logo ---such a timeless, recognizable classic (I don't recommend lambskin for everyday use).
However, I'd recommend the black 2.55 reissue with gold hardware for you (I'm partial to gold). I love this one because it's like the one made by Coco back in 1955. This will be in your closet for many years to come. I also like the distressed leather (gives it an unexpected vintage feel to the professional attire you'll be wearing & perfect for now as well). It comes in 4 different sizes so you can choose one that suits your lifestyle (I like the 226 because it's perfect for day or night).

I'm sure you won't be able to stop at just 1 Chanel. Kudos to you for earning your own money to make this purchase! It's so much more fun & exhilarating!
