I just bought one yesterday. It's a new shipment and a 15 series.

You know I just looked at my sister's new maxi that she bought 3 weeks ago and it looks very nice and it is 15 series also. It does not look or feel like the two jumbos I recently returned.

Are the 2 jumbos you just returned 15 series ? That's supposed to be 2012 year

I bought mine July 30th. 15 series is 2012 year so it's brand new.

It really is soft with a nice shine and puffiness to it. I wish I could see the differences too! So you're saying last years is the worse quality? Like 14 series?

I just bought a jumbo black caviar too. After reading this I have compared it very closely to my jumbo beige caviar purchased in march. I have to say that the black caviar is just as sturdy and firm, although it may look a tad bit matte compared to an older small black caviar shopping bag from the late 90's. The other thing I noticed is that my beige jumbo purchased in march may be a little softer, almost "slippery" to the touch, while the new black jumbo is a tad more rougher. Thats really the only outstanding difference I can see. So, for me it is not worth returning...That said, I did purchase a black jumbo in march that I returned, because it seemed flat and the chains would not move thru the grommets easily at all...

No, I'm not saying last year is worst, it's just more textured and firm which I also like. They both feel luxurious to me and I'm very picky but I'm not as experienced as other posters on this board and I rely heavily on their opinions.

I think it's different for each shipment. I'm looking for another jumbo. Hopefully I can fine one soon

This is a bummer to know - I'm currently saving for a Jumbo caviar SHW. Was contemplating a pre-loved but thought it would be a memorable treat for me to get my first Chanel bag from the boutique and get the whole experience (yes, a girl can dream). New bags should be in 16 series now? Not sure exactly where the "cut off". Hmm.. A comparison pic will be useful as suggested

This is my Chanel that is currently either on the way to Italy or already in Italy for a repair. Bought Nov 2011 and it is 15 series.

I am also new-ish to Chanel and I haven't compared with many before, but the leather I'm seeing in both caviar and aged lambskin looks really unsubstantial and matte. Is that normal?? to me that matte leather feels like plastic.

My last visit at Chanel store, I was thinking to get black cavier Jumbo also but once I saw it, I was disappointed. The color is not really black and not shiney. It looks different from the black Jumbo that all of my friends have. I also took a look at brown and olive color in Jumbo size. They all look nice and shiney but I was looking fot something dark and for everyone use so I ended up to get midnight blue in stead. I don't have much knowledge about Chanel bags but I do know that this black Jumbo is not the same as before or it can be the new black?
