If she paid by credit card she will be covered even if the seller's terms of service only say 7 days (or whatever).

I really suggest to take it to Chanel and have them send it out.

In the meantime call your credit card company and find out what they will need from you in order to do a chargeback if you have to.

I just checked and all three of my reissue bags have a plastic zipper pull that have the letters EP.

Hi frayed!

How stressful! OK, I have a medium white caviar flap and compared it to yours - my gosh, if yours is a fake, it's a darn good one! My inner zipper under the flap has an "EP" zipper, but otherwise the font stamp and the CC is identical. Your quilting alignment looks good too.

The serial number looks okay as well - mine starts with "10" with the initial Saks purchase from Dec 2005, so the serial number makes sense.

Just looking at the bag alone, it looks okay other than the YKK zipper. I agree that the box tags look funny and can't figure that out. Yikes - defintely send it into Chanel for an opinion.

frayed_misfit, I just read your post (and good on you for getting another opinion from the eBay boards!) and I'm just that the seller had the nerve to trick you so!

I really hope that you get your money back. Please keep us updated on how the seller responds!

well i just asked her nicely to explain the inconsistencies with the tags on the box, and this is her reply.

"I am very disappointed with all the info. Perhaps you watched handbags on ebay from time to time. There are a lot of people on ebay who sells conterfeit handbags. But I am not a professional seller on ebay. Everyhing i sell is from my own personal collection. I don't know all the details you tried to ask me. I am not a lier, not a handbag inspector either. This bag was purchased at the CHANEL boutique by myself, how can it be fake! The bag was puchased around October, 2005. I used to work for Chanel, this bag was sold to me by the store manager before i stopped working for Chanel. I can tell you usually the Chanel staff won't inpect authenticity for you. But if you take this bag to any of the Chanel boutiques, they would know how rare and precious this classic bag is. You can do so rather than sitting in fron of ebay bbs to discuss with other members who never saw this bag in person. Many people have been screwed on ebay by receiving fake items but i can guaranee by my dignity that it is auhentic. Please do not email me back anymore by asking these questions, go to a Chanel expert to inspect this bag, not somebody who's in front of the computer. If you are not comfortable buying stuff on ebay, go to a boutique to purchase instead. I don't sit around to look at every detail of the handbag to verify authenticity but I can tell you that the Chanel Boutiques do not sell fake Chanel bags."

btw if we could please not bad-mouth the seller in the meanwhile until we figure this out once and for all!

ok, this might sound crazy so please jump down my throat but is it possible that the seller had this bag repaired, not by Chanel of course, & maybe they put the YKK zip on? I'm only thinking this as so many have said the only thing thats not right is the zipper? (ignoring the box)

Hope it all works out ok for you

The only thing that is known right now is that her zipper pull says YKK and that is different from what we've seen. It hasn't been determined that it is a fake. I would take it to Chanel.

she didn't mention this, even after i sent her ranag's opinions, so highly unlikely. will take it to chanel to see what they think, dont know if they they can help though as sometimes they are a bit clueless on the phone regarding their current stock e.g. "what is a reissue?"

I am going to agree with what the seller wrote - the only way to be sure is to take it to Chanel.

As hard as we try to help with authentication, there is only so much we can do with pictures.

This is your best bet. I would insist they send it out to their repair facility.

Smoothoprter, you're right. I didn't mean to jump to conclusions like that! It's just with what was pointed out about the strange tags and missing part of the box label, I got a little worked up.

ParkAvenuePrincess
- I was just thinking about the zipper being possibly repaired/replaced too!

Meanwhile... this line from the seller sounds rather fishy. I've read wayyy too many eBay auctions from sellers of fakes that use something similar:
