I am so glad that they traced the name in the system. I am glad that you are happy with the way all of this has worked out

I find it very odd that the New York store that I called and the Rodeo Drive store (a flagship store) both said no YKK zippers ever. The Rodeo store even went and checked the classic flaps while I was on the phone with them. In 25 years, I have never come across a Chanel with a YKK - this has to be a very recent hardware change. Did they verify that she was a Chanel employee as well?

I still cannot understand why she did what she did to the box labeling either, but as long as you are completely satisfied, that is all that matters!

ranag not all of the classic flaps have the YKK, so i'm guessing they had a look at 1 or 2 and just stopped there. i'm positive she worked there as it was her name on the receipt, the receipt had 'associate sale' and it checked out on the system. i didn't want to push it further as she could get in trouble.

i still don't know what V03 stands for though! might check that with the boutique tomorrow.

aaaahhh happy endings are sweet.

No kidding that the sales associate could get into trouble - if she verified a purchase over the phone from a name on a receipt, and you not being that person, she could get fired. They are supposed to protect the privacy of their customers! As for the V03 - the only thing I can think of is that they quit putting the actual collection number on the boutique tag. It always used to be in the upper right hand corner. In any event, I am glad all worked out for you.

Too bad Chanel does not track hologram numbers. My only concern at this point would be that you got the actual bag that was sold since this seller recently purchased another Chanel bag on eBay from a private auction.

This is why I buy very, very few handbags on eBay - paid $800 about 5 years ago for a picture perfect fake Chanel. It was fantastic from the pictures, but as soon as I took the bag out of the box, I knew I had been scammed. The bag had a vinyl lining and the auxillary hardware was incorrectly marked. Unfortunately this was before Paypal had a SNAD process and the credit card companies would not do chargebacks for eBay purchases.

I don't think you should worry Frayed anymore Ranag, there is nothing dodgy about the seller, you can track what she has bought recently and she spends a lot of money on authentic items. A lot of info the seller gave Frayed has now checked out and the bag does not look fake. If the Chanel boutiques are selling bags with YKK zips then that surely says enough.It's a story that has a happy ending, tho I agree, it could have been a lot, lot worse!

I must say , unfortunately , I'm NOT surprised . If you read a lot of the posts on tPF it will become painfully obvious that 9 times out of 10 , we know more than them .

That is very interesting and very sad. I started buying Chanel bags in 1981 and have always had superior service from them over the last 25 years. I guess now that they hire much cheaper labor though, that they just are no longer as reliable as they once were and the sales associates are no longer as knowledgeable. That really is unfortunate.
